Sounds about right.
Fun to take both. The hspt score must make her very happy & the SSAT score isn't bad either.
Which schools?

SJC, Good Counsel, and Choate Rosemary Hall

No girls schools except boarding? Is she considering a Choate?

What did you think of SJC for a girl?

She shadowed at both GC and SJC. She loved both. She's really into sports and found SJC to be a really diverse and welcoming environment.
I have no doubt that she would thrive either place, but GC is a bit closer to home.

She didn't want to go to girls only. Choate is co-ed and is a bit of a long shot, given her SSAT score, but her dad is an alumnus and she really wants to go there.

St Johns can be good with the sports but we weren't impressed with the disparity between the girls and the boys programs.
I.e.: two teams going to a tournament, one boys one girls. Air conditioned coaches picked up boys, broken down school but with open windows and no potty picks up girls. We left.
I hope Good Counsel is better
That's one thing you get with a girls school - the funds go to the girls.

Anyone know if this has changed since this was posted???

Got our HSPT scores. DS got a composite 89th percentile on SSAT, and a national composite 97th percentile on HSPT.

93 on SSAT, 97 on HSPT. Girl.

From these posts, it seems students usually score higher on the HSPT than the SSAT. Is this what we could expect? Looking at next year.

DD scored better on HSPT. She is coming from a independent K-8. I think it depends on if your coming from a Catholic school.

Totally messed up above ??. I meant to say DD did better on SSAT. She sort of bombed the HSPT.

Hspt is way easier than the ssat. It doesn’t matter if you are coming from a Catholic school, my DD had no prep and got a 97 HSPT.

Good to know. Thank you.

PP here. I used the data provided in this thread to get a sense of how my DS would do on the HSPT based on his SSAT. The estimate was spot on. Really helpful that people posted the two scores.

Well, sometimes kids stress about the SSAT because it’s super hard and they don’t pay any attention to the HSPT because it’s a much easier test and they might not do as well on the HSPT. If your DC takes it again I’ll bet he will do better.

My DD bombed the reading part of the SSAT the first time she took it - she got a 50 percentile. She said that she just froze.
She took it again and got a 95 %. That sure surprised me.
