Grocery store etiquette at self check out lines

The profit margin at most grocery stores is around 1%. So don't think a 10% discount will ever happen.

Why was OP being an asshole? It is ok to start scanning when the scanner is free. I often bag my own groceries in the cashier line and the cashier will start scanning the next customers groceries before I am finished bagging and that is okay. If you need extra time in the bagging zone, then you need to use the barrier they provide or just bag faster and stop holding up the line.

If you have more than 10 or 15 items, DO NOT use the self checkout. I see jerkoffs going through self checkout with 20+ items all the time and of course it takes them FOREVER to complete.

If you have to buy a ton of shit, get someone to help you.

The grocery stores need to hire more cashiers. Self checkout sucks.
