New to ADHD - share your lessons learned

While your child needs help and you should do all you can, please allow your child to accept who she is, not be ashamed of her condition and be the best she can be even if it isn't your idea of success. I've worked with disabled kids at various points and there are so many more horrible things your child can have. Your child can have a wonderful, productive life. My cousin had ADHD and parents who had a very hard time with him. He was on all kinds of meds and still ended up drinking and on drugs. As a result of his condition and how he had been treated, he seemed to see himself as broken and lived as a broken person. Self-fulfilling prophecy. No child is perfect.
