*if this is really the principal, which I assume it is* APPLAUSE. great, thoughtful answers. |
I doubt it can be her. Surely she knows the power of paragraphs? |
If this really is the Principal, please don't waste your time. You will never be able to win over segment of the DC populace you decided you were not up to the task before you even started. |
No kidding. Fantastic response. |
Forget about paragraphs. The person who wrote that message lacks 10th-grade critical thinking skills. Perhaps some Wilson student trying to be cute? Note the message was written at 15.36. |
I seriously hope this was not her. Responding here with a point by point defense just makes her seem myopic with not enough to do and the inability to prioritize...especially on the day when high school PARCC scores are released...Now if she wants to DEMONSTRATE by action that she's not out of her depth in running our largest high school then I'm ready to watch that. |
| How's the student newspaper going? |
| Some people in this forum are certifiably CRAZY hahahaha... boy oh boy |
Ms. Martin. Awesome response

I also know a white woman named kim martin. I went to 2 parent coffees and principal martin was just fine. Well spoken, clearly getting up to speed on issues, admitted that she is still learning, very personably, seemed really smart and realistic. When i saw,her at a larger event in the auditorium, ahe was obviously super nervous and was not impressive at all at the microphone. I guess a,principal of a big high school should have good public speaking skills since its really part of the job so its hard to give her a pass on that. Interestingly, cahall is the world's worst public speaker. |
Cannot be her. Even by DCPS standards, no principal would rumble stuff with no paragraphs or any analysis, or use sentences such as "The questions and answers I provided during the unscripted Q and A were somewhat vague..." Are principals somehow used to SCRIPTED Q&A sessions? Do you provide questions and answers? I'm with previous PP, this is a student. Or some crazy mom? |

Dear Principal Martin,
I know that school administrators sometimes monitor these boards, and if you find reading these threads to be useful intelligence gathering, then go for it. But I don't think it's a good idea to respond to anything you see here. This is an anonymous forum and you have no way of knowing if the views expressed here are actually shared by the majority of parents you will encounter in real life. Engaging here just lowers you to the level of an anonymous discussion board. That's a pretty low bar for civil, rational thinking. Surely you have better things to do with your time. Take the feedback you feel is valid or useful in preparing for the next open house, and don't worry about defending your reputation on DCUM -- it doesn't matter! No one is going to admit to their friends that they actually read the stuff on here. At least, I read these boards but I would never admit that to a fellow parent. |
Given the venomous crowd that she has to face I am not surprised that she is nervous in larger settings. |
| I agree that the post is not from Ms. Martin. I can't imagine a principal with the political skills needed for the job hosting an open house for prospective parents who would explain her comments by reminding the prospective parents that they aren't "insiders" and are "largely unconnected to OUR school." Really? Can't be for real. |
