Same here - have been to Germany multiple times. I have had some decent food for sure, but overall it is not a cuisine that appeals to me. |
I've been to American several times; in fact, I live here. I still hate American food. |
Hamburgers and hot dogs are German. The origins of most roasts are German. Are you vegetarians? |
I don't think even Germans would claim hamburgers and hot dogs if asked about their national dishes. Are you serious? |
There are plenty of aspects of traditional American food, to the extent there is such a thing, I don't like either. Although I love corn. I even love candy corn. And to the poster that asked about hamburgers and hot dogs - maybe that's the problem. I haven't eaten a hot dog since I was 6. I will occasionally eat sausage, but very rarely (sometimes at a ballpark if that's the best option). I rarely eat hamburgers these days, although do like 5 Guys maybe once a year. I don't eat potatoes except for a very occasional french fry at Mon Ami Gabi. I'm sorry if you find that troubling. It isn't meant to be offensive and I travel all over the world and eat and enjoy all sorts of food. German food is just not high on my list of choices. |
Lol. Awesome, and true!!!! |
And the Dutch hate the Germans with a passion, so it is even doubly funny! |
What is American food? hamburgers? hot dogs? sorry - But My entire family came from Italy. I grew up eating homemade pastas and sauces. We made wine. I certainly wouldn't call our meals "American" even though we cooked them in Maryland. lol There's plenty to eat here if you either 1) find the right restaurants or even better, 2) make it yourself. |
Everyone, let's just relax by drinking some Bud Light, yes? |
|
Not offensive in the least!
My guess is that it's a coincidence! |
| Jewish here - not offended in the least by Oktoberfest and have gladly participated in many Oktoberfest parties. |
Jew here. It's not as easy as you think, my friend. Just because someone has a big nose or frizzy hair doesn't mean they are Jewish. They could be Italian. The name game is getting harder as well. Berg isn't necessarily Jewish anymore. Neuroses are common among all religions. My comments are offensive? Well, so is yours. You see, Black is a skin color. While Jewish is a religion. There are people of every religion in most countries in the world. Black Jews, white Jews, blonde Jews, red headed Jews... Why do you think it's so easy to look at someone and identify their religion? |
PP must have Jewdar if it's that easy |
| jewish people buy german luxury cars by the truckload so no you did not offend them by having oktoberfest |
NP here. OP didn't say these were acquaintances. She said they were friends. I know the religions (or atheism) of my good friends because we discuss things like holidays, going to church, bar mitzvahs, baptisms, etc. with one another. I don't think it's strange for someone to know what religion her friends are. |
