What are DC's equivalents to NYC suburbs?

Anonymous
This thread gets started every few weeks and always plays out the same. Well, maybe the comparison of Arlington to Tijuana is new. But, honestly, getting the same lectures about how DC isn't Manhattan and the suburbs aren't cute little snooty towns gets really boring. The small town model in NY/NJ is cute but also results in much larger disparities between neighboring towns. We don't have the slummy suburbs like Yonkers next to Bronxvilke, or Irvington next to Maplewood, but it's rare for anyone to point that out because we're all supposed to nod our j
Heads in unison about how cute the nicer areas are.

Pretty irrelevant question because here there's no Manhattan. For good and bad, DC is a small city, like San Francisco, nothing to do with NY or LA.

NoArl like the village

Maybe a Mexican Village.

^^^ what does that even mean?
No- north Arlington is nothing like the village, but it is also nothing like a Mexican village. Seriously are people posting from Iowa or something? Have you been to these places? I'm guessing not.

Oh I've been to Arlington many times. It may not be Mexico.... but it's probably closer to that than it is to Greenwich, in feel.

Just stop already with your nonsensical racist comments. So you've driven by a taco place in Arlington and you want to be an ass about it. We get it.

Racist? This is not about race. It's more about the feel of a place and class level.

Ever actually been to north Arlington?

Of course they haven't. They drove down part of four mile run, past the weenie beanie once, and think they know something.

Ps- if they were considering south Arlington in that regard ( although certainly they don't know the difference between north and south arl) , and had a clue...they'd compare it to El Salvador not Mexico.
SALA shall rise!!!!!

Yes. I know Virginians see that area as their pride and joy but... I have to tell you, it's not much to write home about.

And certainly does not come close to NYC suburbs. Well, maybe Yonkers...

Whatever you have to tell yourself...

Wait, is someone really trying to say that North Arlington is like NYC or its close in suburbs? that is almost funny. And further evidence of the fact that most New Yorkers, myself included, avoid VA when we move down to this area.

NP here. Most people in VA get this, and are more than happy that New Yorkers stay away. You really are not that interesting, especially when you are out of your native habitat.

Keep telling yourselves that. First it was, Noar is a perfect comparison to Greenwich, and now it's "we don't want any New Yorkers anyway!"

Seems kind of like someone trying to hit back after getting rejected

No, not nearly monied enough. Potomac, maybe.

CCMD is more monied than Potomac if you look at HHI & median housing cost. It's also more prestigious if you care about that kind of thing.

I didn't compare North Arlington to Greenwich. Try to keep up.

Weak response. No wonder you're in exile.
