| No, Rice is just as good academically and without the fraternities and racial divides. |
Hmm - academically, perhaps though I would say duke is a lot stronger in programs like BME & Economics. Duke CRUSHES, absolutely CRUSHES, Rice on OCI/OCR. It isn't even close. High Finance (IB, S&T, Buyside), MBB consulting, Silicon Valley Technology - Duke's placement in these choice sectors for UG's is a hell of a lot better. I would rather go to Rice than Duke because I despise Duke and its culture but I people should know the whole story. |
| Duke has culture? |
Why would you "despise" Duke? That seems kind of bizarre. It's a college. You don't have to have anything to do with it if you don't like it. |
| Duke is a sporty, preppy, drinking-culture, elitist and unimaginative school. |
Duke seems to be surviving without you. Let it go. |
We lost complete respect for Duke after two kids we know got in who in my estimation were community college material...sickening! Duke is known for being able to be bribed quite easily. |
Duke doesn't have a monopoly on that kind of admission. You must be sickened by every college in the country, LOL!! Even your most conservative colleges, religious and otherwise, cut some slack here and there. |
| Not impressed too many kids that are hooked that don't even belong there but a beautiful campus |
We get your drift as you have posted quite a few times you don't like Duke. We get it! We know it's you, ye who doesn't use punctuation. |

Duke is a very good school. Of the good schools DC will apply to (including Duke), they all have something that could use improvement. There is just no perfect college. It just doesn't exist, but you can shoot for the best fit possible.
|
The price of bribing Duke is a lot lower (they are willing to cut more slack academically for seven figure check than the ivies would've). |
You don't have to go to Duke or even think about it. The rest of us do. Don't concern yourself. |
+1 |
| Visited Duke's campus and UNC, much to my surprise, unc seemed much more attractive. What did I miss? Duke seemed like an office park built around a handful of gothic buildings. |
