The pill for DD

This. OP- of course you should talk to your DD about it. And please don't limit it to a single discussion. This really should be an ongoing conversation between the two of you for years to come. Whether or not the two of you decide to start the pill or an IUD, the conversation still needs to happen. Its awkward and uncomfortable at times but please do your best to have an open, honest relationship without judgement.

I would be careful about going on the pill. I had a very strong reaction to the hormones and became depressed while taking it; another friend had the same issue. It can really affect mood more strongly than is generally acknowledged.

Just talk to her about it.

Keep in mind a lot of doctors will not give an IUD to a young teen and also that not all childless women or girls can successfully have an IUD placed.
