Link please. I did extensive research before trying it and everything I found was positive. Many doctors are starting to recommend it.

Do those of you who do intermittent fasting have a vigorous workout routine?

I run a few miles every off day, so roughly 4x per week.

I'm one of the PPs who does IF. I do vinyasa flow yoga which gets somewhat rigorous depending on the day. I use the ultimate yogi program so some workouts are more rigorous than others. Other days I walk, which is not very rigorous but gets my heart pumping bc I live in a very hilly neighborhood. I'm trying to work more weights into my workouts but I've been lazy about it since the yoga workouts include a lot of body weight moves. But I wouldn't do something like crossfit or spinning while doing IF.

I do about an hour of either heavy weightlifting or a 5-6 mile run daily, on alternate days though.

I just lost 25 pounds over the last 10 months doing HIIT and weights, and eating lightly in the evenings, done eating by 7 if possible.

Start with not eating for at least 2-3 hours before you go to bed and then skip breakfast, then eat a late lunch at 1:00. The link below has some good tips for getting started. I was skeptical in the beginning and didn't think that like other diets it would be very sustainable, but my body has adjusted great and I really just don't feel like food in the morning anymore. It is also a great way to improve your blood work. My mother started intermittent fasting and has lost 15-20 and was able to stop taking her cholesterol medication. http://www.nowloss.com/intermittent-fasting-diet-plan.htm

Another big vote for this approach. Skip breakfast (not really the most important meal of the day). Eat a big lunch. and just nibble for dinner. I used to eat dinner and then nibble in the evening. Now I skip the meal. I had a horrible time counting calories and the totally no carb thing was also difficult since I always convinced myself I desrved large portions. Here I feel less deprived than ever and it is working. Too afraid to get on the scale yet but I got my first, Haven't you lost weight comment today. So exciting.

I think so many diets are focused on eating ... this is focused on not eating which is really the key. But like I say, little feeling of deprivation since you can enjoy a big meal every day.

My husband who has struggled with his weight for years has been doing this now for a few months and looks amazing, and also feels like it is effortless.

You'll know you've found the right exercise when you start making excuses for letting other things slide so you can do it (instead of deciding you'll skip it today because something else is more urgent).

I don't know if this is necessarily true. I am pretty fit- I do a lot of running, weights, swimming, yoga. I don't necessarily like working out but I do feel like I need to do it so I drag myself out of bed and force it. So I think if you don't feel passionate about exercise that's ok, but know that you should probably do it anyway. A little suffering helps.
