OP: Spent a lovely evening yesterday with MIL and BIL. Did not bring up "helping to clean" again since BIL refused our help. When we had brought it up earlier, he was very nice and said he didn't want us to spend our vacation dealing with the mess.

He probably will not be able to finish by November because of his job situation. His company laid off a lot of people two days ago and he has a lot more work to do.

But since we offered and was refused, I feel we've done our part and leave the house with him as both he and his mother wish.
