My kids are 7 and 5. We will watch jeopardy and wheel of fortune together as a family. It's pretty tame and we have fun pretending to win all of the prizes and trips. They don't quite get the jokes but we will occasionally watch the Simpsons on FXX together. I know that's not the answer you're looking for because of content but there are some teachable moments.

10 and 12 yr olds - our favorites to watch together are The Middle and The Goldbergs

Switched at Birth, an ABC family show that ran a couple of years ago, was fantastic IMO. I enjoyed watching it alone.

As for old school, I remember there's Avonlea, little house on the prairie, our house, Hey Dude, Clarissa explains it all, are you afraid of the dark, secret life of Alex Mac, alf, 7th heaven. Some are on Netflix or Amazon, others are only available on dvd or through other means.

Clarissa Explains It All - I LOVED that show! I babysat kids that loved that show and I was obsessed as they were. LOL

Me too!
Also a fan of Sabrina The Teenage Witch!

We watch Wheel of Fortune together like another PP mentioned.

Action: Scorpion, The Librarians, Agent Carter, Granite Flats (this last one is on Netflix and the tamest of the ones I listed. Similar to Encyclopedia Brown)

Informational Shows:
Myth Busters, How it’s Made, Timeblazers, Horrible Histories

Probably Online Somewhere:
Comedies: The Neighbors, Sports Night, Psych, Chuck, Eureka, Wings, Fresh Prince, Newhart, Night Court

Mysteries/Action: Death in Paradise, White Collar, Leverage, Foyles War, Quantum Leap, Sea Quest

You can read Common Sense Media reviews and preview episodes so you know that they are okay for your family.

Uh - yes. I did watch Kimmy - binge-watched it in fact. Love it.

But I also have pretty good reading comprehension and when the OP says "It seems that every show we watch is inappropriate in some way and yes, I am somewhat conservative. Kids are rising 6th and 8th grade and obviously not interested in the silly kids shows, but shows such as, "The Office" and "Last Man Standing" have too many adult themes" I believe her and give her what I consider to be appropriate advice and call it when I think she's getting bad advice.

Quotes from Kimmy (killer and funny - but may not be exactly appropriate):

“And her ex-husband died on top of his new wife.” “Like in bunk beds?!”

"“The last time I had two men fighting over me I was a table at a Fire Island arm-wrestling match.”

“High heels were invented by a man, Kimmy. Because no woman ever invented anything.”

"“You need to listen to your gut.” “I don’t have a gut, you motherfucker!”

It is for 14+

my daughter is almost 11 going into 6th grade. I would never let her watch that show.

You need to go deeper than just a number on the rating:
https://www.commonsensemedia.org/about-us/our-mission/about-our-ratings#

Degrassi is a good show to watch together because it discusses themes that average will kids encounter and written in a thoughtful manner.

Full House's target audience is age 7 and like the review says any problem can't be solved within 30 minutes:

Degrassi has won a Peabody for Pete's sake.

But you'd rather your daughter worship these freaks?

You mean the twins who left acting to pursue their dream of fashion and have a $300 million net worth, no criminal activity and stay out of the limelight. Sure!

Another vote for How it's Made and cooking completions on Food Network. My kids also like HGTV, but they like helping with house projects.

They didn't make their money from "fashion." They made it as child actors. One has an eating disorder and the other (or maybe it's the same one) was the brain trust that called her "security team" when woman who found Heath Ledger's body. Duh call an ambulance when someone isn't breathing:

Money don't buy sense.

Surprisingly my kids (5-7) like the Waltons, and even more so Star Trek (original and next generation). Wipeout isn't for me, but they belly laugh through most of it.
