Seriously painted nails look hookerish" french women dont oaint their nails |
I want to be impeccably groomed. Could you share your routine? Thanks! |
Just when I think I have heard all sorts of nonsense in life, someone like you comes along to surprise the heck out of me. Allow me to burst your bubble, highly placed women actually look very polished and well groomed. This is because they have the means and also they have to cultivate a certain image, a well put together image is part of the executive/ managerial package. Also, majority in academia don't manage staff/department/organization so I guess personality takes a backseat ? (I know some very well groomed people working in academia, so I think you are plain lazy) |
Hair shampooed, body washed, clothes laundered, teeth brushed -- not that hard, pp. |
Good grief. Been to France? What nonsense. |
It depends on the field. In some fields, looking polished = secretary. |
I would call this basic hygiene, not "impeccably groomed." ![]() |
+2. That is basic hygiene. Who leaves the house without doing this? |
Academia looks down on painted toes? You clearly do not work at the same University where I work. |
You must work at a very small university if you know how all its subfields work. I work at a very large one. Or are you Provost or something, so that you have interacted with everything from field extension agents to math to theater to music to women's studies to... |
NP here. I'm in the School of Engineering (Electrical, to be precise). We must not be as "academic" as you are. Nobody gives a $h!t about whether or not you're too polished. It's your work that counts. Talk about provincial and small minded. |
I would *hope* this is the case everywhere. What a ridiculous thing to judge a woman for! |
Yuck pearly is out. My mom has pearly toes. Bright spa colors ftw. |
I have to keep my fingernails fairly short and unpolished so I enjoy painting my toenails. Can't say I've ever cared enough about someone else's nails to form a judgement. |
I have done it, but rarely. Women already have so many 'requirements' to look good. Talk about setting the bar high. We have to be fit, shapely, beautifully manicured/pedicured, etc. etc. I also advocate having one's nails look trim and well cared for, but there is no need for painting them, and nothing wrong if they are not. |
