The PP is an ass, but I think you're also being purposely obtuse. There's nothing else to do at this rental? You planned on being in the water from sun up to sun down every day of vacation? Really? Why would you pay to travel to Florida in a place nice enough to split with two other families when you could have done the same here for the price of a community pool pass? |
can you remain tentative on going then? you should know about surgery within the next two weeks. Usually that is determined initially |
| OP if you are determined not to go - fine. But don't expect a refund. |
And most docs would be happy to schedule a follow-up around an out-of-state vacation. 'Tis the season, it's not going to be an entirely new situation for them. |
What happened to bringing books and reading at the beach? Sounds like DC is overly helicoptered and is now ruining the vacay for the whole family. |
| Did I miss this? How old is the child and are there other children in the OP's family? |
pretty sure this info hasn't been shared. |
Speak for yourself. I pay to enjoy the nature. There are dolphins and turtles, and dunes. This is not a tourist trap and there are no attractions, no entertainment. Maybe a couple small stores, tops. Yet if you're not in the water, you can't just seat out on a hot day there. What else can you do in the rental? You can stay inside the house. Why would I travel so far to do that? I'm looking into waterproof cast covers. And waiting what the orthopedic specialist will say. |
The child is 6. The other kids are 6, 13 and 16. |
I think this matters. Kid is 4 and watching older siblings in water / needs to be supervised if has to stay alone in the house? Kid is 12 and can entertain himself? |
Well, can you picture a 6 year old sitting on a beach in 95C heat and reading books for longer than 30 minutes? I can't and I need 8 hours to fill. |
Honestly I can't believe you'd cancel your vacation over this - particularly when there are other kids involved. But to each his own. Your original question though about refund? You should not expect one. What have the other families said? Its really up to them how they want to handle this. |
A six year old is old enough to enjoy wading and splashing in the surf without soaking her cast. She can also play games, explore the beach, build sand castles, go for nature walks, etc. If it is Florida surely there is some sort of cheap boardwalk touristy kind of area nearby. Is she an exceptionally whiney kid that needs everything to go her way? Or is she more of a flexible, fun, go with the flow kind of kid? |
| No refund. That's ridiculous. Waterproof cast. |
Then teach your child to enjoy the nature! WTF? Is it so difficult to hang out with your kid for the week? Go for walks, wade in, look for sea glass, set up an umbrella and play games. The possibilities are endless. Plus, if there are other families around, there are bound to be kids for your child to play with, they're not all going to be in the water all the time. Also, as has been pointed out a million times, a waterproof cast cover solves your problem. Jeebus Christmas, you sound hell bent on destroying your vacation! |
