This is what we do with our almost 3yo. He doesn't watch any kids shows but watches a few minutes of Nationals baseball with us before bed. He likes to stand in front of the TV and pretend to pitch, hit and catch along with the players and has also started pointing out the numbers on the players jerseys (without us asking or mentioning them). He seems to interact with the TV in a way I don't know if he would if it was a cartoon which makes us feel a little better about it. Its also nice to know that baseball is only on in the evenings so its not an option all day long. |

I definitely ask for nanny's input and opinion. We still have final say, but she is very in-tuned to his temperament, emotional trends, etc. In our case, we are TV people, she is not. So DS doesn't watch very much with her. |
Of course the parents have the final say - that is what OP was writing about when listing the different options that have been suggested to her. |
