If you are a DCPS/PC family, how much do you spend on summer camp/care?

Barrie, Calleva and Valley Mill all have buses and multiple pick up locations in NW DC. I am sure others do as well. That makes them as convenient as Casa and Sidwell.

Are all the camps pretty similar in terms of what the day looks like? Is there a benefit of sending kids outside the city when CASA and Sodwell (and others) are right here?

Not if you live in NE DC.

If you're driving to Sidwell then you can drive to a NW bus stop for Valley Mill that's even closer than Sidwell is what PP is saying.

You'd get better responses in the camp forums.

I thought about Valley Mill, but then I thought about my kid spending 2 hours on a bus every day & decided that even if we had the money, it wouldn't be worth it. Maybe someday we'll do overnight camp.

We do a combo of DPR, mid-range camps, and one higher cost camp, plus a week of vacation and a week with grandma. We spend around $1,400.

Not really - the commute would be too long (double commute for kid - car and bus).

And think about those parking costs if you normally Metro or bike- to get back to the topic of this thread. I drove for 5 weeks last summer and hated it.
