| 3 kids. 5k. We don't have aftercare costs so I put it aside through my dependent care account. |
Valley Mill? If so, do you like? |
| We do a mix of affordable camps ($180-$220), and more expensive camps ($300-$350) and take about 1-2 weeks off. I would say about $2500 total. |

We are doing two weeks of camp each for two kids=1300
Plus four weeks of our awesome college sitter=2250 (Fridays off) Plus a week at the beach Plus two weeks with grandma So around 3550 for two kids. |

DCPS summer is 9 weeks. One year a while back it was 10 weeks, but normally is 9 weeks.
We do 6 weeks of camp for two kids. Day camps vary a bit, but usually average $500/week per child with either aftercare or transportation. We do a mix of traditional camp and arts or sports camps. Sleep away camp is $1000/week and we are adding that to the mix as our kids get older. |
This is not typical. This is in the extreme scale. |
That's the average high end. Remember aftercare/beforecare costs, too. I'm not this PP, but we do camps that are roughly $300-$400 a week, without aftercare or before care. Places like Homerun baseball, Headfirst, Sidwell, Cleveland Park club, Glen Echo, etc. So NW type camps. The Y is a week we save money, Headfirst is more expensive. |
|
the JCC and the Zoo are over $500 per week if you work an 8 hour day and therefore need before and aftercare.
Daycare used to be a good option . Now we do camps that range from about $200 to $350 per wrk. Plus sometimes we need to drive depending on camp location. Ugh. |

Weeks 1 & 2: Sleepaway camp - $150 (total)
Week 3: Staycation Weeks 4 thru 6: SEEK engineering camp - free Weeks 7 & 8: DPR @ Turkey Thicket - $130 Week 9: Undecided |
| Good if you can afford them, but we do a lot of good camps that are less than $300 including aftercare. Sure, we may splurge for 1-2 more expensive one but quite honestly, we'd rather use the money for a summer vacation at the beach. The Y vs. Sidwell, I'll take the Y. There are also many camp specials via certifikid that we take advantage of. Or sign up with a good martial arts camp in advance for less than $200. |
Nice!!! Where is the sleepaway camp? |
Camp Dogwood in Madison, Virginia. Sponsored by the AnBryce Foundation. |
| With DPR or camps that are $50-$100/week, you get what you pay for. $10K is unrealistic for a 3 year old. Probably closer to $3k at the better camps (~$350-400) for 9 weeks |
My kid did DPR and a whole bunch of more expensive ones. Granted he's only 6, but he much prefers DPR over Sidwell, Lowell and a few others. |
