I LOVE Southwest. I don’t live in the DC area anymore, and drive over 2 hours to an airport that has Southwest instead of going to one half an hour away....
The flight attendants are friendly, the airport attendants are funny, and in my experience, there are few delays. I recently had one leg of my trip canceled because of weather. Had to fly out of a different airport, so I purchased a whole new itinerary. The attendant at the airport offered to credit my first itinerary, but I wanted it totally refunded. She told me to simply write a letter to request this. I did, and within two weeks, it was totally refunded. No problem. And, they were very nice about it. This has not been my experience with some of the other airlines. Good for you, OP. Glad it all worked out. In my opinion, family boarding should be allowed with children up to 8, at least. I would much rather families get in and get settled instead of rearranging everything once people are seated. I have no young children. |
Glad you like SW, and your reasons are sound. I don't care to fly SW because of their seating policy, so I avoid them. I'd rather just buy a ticket and get reserved seats for the two of us and not do the cattle call. I am, however, impressed by your story of the refund they gave you. That speaks well of them. |

I feel your pain, OP. The seating policy is exactly why I do not like Southwest.
They'd rather have a system that promotes stress/uncertainty/conflict than to just assign seats because they want everybody to pay for priority boarding. I avoid them whenever possible. |

If you choose to do family boarding you should wait until families with babies and toddlers go through. Like me!!! Haha
Does everyone in family boarding get a full row usually?? Where is the best place to sit on the plane with a toddler? |
