It's generally easier to get morning SACC. Or for parents to stagger schedules. But it's hard when both parents work for one to be home before 3, which is what you would need if the ES start times were are early as the old HS start times. |
| *were as, not were are.... |
| I think when they announced the later HS start times, Dr. Garza committed to seeking later start times for MS as the opportunity presented itself. |
Not anymore at our school! Our start time is now 25 minutes later--nearly one hour later than when my oldest started K. Thank God we're in a.m. SACC already. |
Nope. Our ES jumped 20 minutes later. So much for a 5-10 min change. |
| Why do some schools have no change at all, when other schools now have more time. Does this mean that some elementary schools will have more time (albeit only 5-10 minutes more) than other elementary schools? |
Which ES jumped 20 minutes? |
| Just saw the schedule. So they will start 5-10 minutes later, not a big difference. Now if they started a whole HOUR before that'd be a whole other story. |

We have 9:20 too. Sucks! The morning SACC list is a mile long and there is no way we can stagger our jobs that much. My kid will also be awake a good 3 hours before school starts. Little kids get up early. |

Our DC is starting K in the fall and this time change has already impacted our schedule as my life is planned minute to minute. It has changed 10 mins earlier start but ending 15 minutes later.
B/c of dropping off other kids at daycare and school, we will miss the bus. Does anyone know how the kiss and ride works if the bell time is 8:35 and I won't be able to make it till realistically 8:30ish? Will my poor K be late for school everyday or will DC be able to rush in from Kiss and Ride and make it to class? I would hate for DC to be penalized on just making it. Will DC have enough time to take off his jacket and put away his backpack or do they expect them to be in seats by the bell? Very stressed out rising K parent here! |
Earlier should be LATER |
| PP how do you know they will miss the bus? The bus schedule won't come out until August. They can fluctuate a lot year to year, even without whole scale bell changes. Bell schedules can also fluctuate year to year. |
Not all will. Ours will now start 25 minutes later. Eight schools were impacted greater than 5-10 minutes, which might not matter much to you, but it matters very much to the parents whose children attend these schools. In the case of our school, I can recall no fewer than three changed start times since we have been going there. There's a difference of almost an hour between two of those starts. |
No, ALL schools have 5 extra minutes added. Fuck this. I'm moving. I've had enough of fcps. |
