Garrison, anyone can provide input?

Yes, just go check out both schools! We didn't like the feel of Seaton as much as we liked the community at Garrison. And like someone else said, we didn't care about test scores because the last crop of kids getting tested came of age at Garrison before the current principal and the significant efforts to strengthen the upper grade curriculum, and because Garrison has such a large special education population due to the decisions made after the near-closure that meant bringing in some special autism/etc. classes. I'm sure both schools are doing great early childhood work. We've had an excellent experience so far at Garrison and are over the moon to not to be stressing over the lottery again this year because we have such a terrific teacher!

We are in bounds for Garrison, but chose Cleveland for Spanish. Just this year, we are seeing Cleveland, Garrison ,and Seaton individual parents and parent groups come together to discuss Cardozo Feeder System issues and opportunities. These three schools will feed 6th graders into Cardozo, while Ross and Thomas will feed into Francis Stevens School Without Walls.

Original poster, I recommend you disregard the cyber-bullying that is always such a problem with the DC Urbwn Moms and Dads fora.

Once you tour the schools, you will find the right fit for your child. As mentioned we have new principals, new energy, and new enthusiasm for our neighborrhood DC public schools! I expect that this energy will be soon directed to the middle school and high school levels.

OP here. Just came back from an open house of Garrison... not bad, people, not bad AT ALL.
Definitely better than, say, Langley but still at the bottom of my list for a lot of unknowns.
I heard today the magic words "Garrison went through their wait list in the second round". yay.

+1 We need more real data points and less people trashing out of personal bias.

Does Garrison still have a problem with poorly kids escaping the playground and running down the sidewalk unsupervised during school hours?

I didn't ask about the run away kids. Since it's such a specific question, I would recommend you contact the school directly and inquire about this particular issue.
