Garrison, anyone can provide input?

If you want to compare Seaton and Garrison just look at the stats -- not just the academic results but issues like student satisfaction and student safety.

The differences are striking.

Didn't look at Seaton, so I can't compare, but we're having a great time at Garrison with our PK4 child. The specials teachers are dedicated to making things fun for the kids, and our teacher very skilled and responsive to our questions and concerns.

There is alot of parent/PTO energy around getting Garrison's modernization started, and I suspect it's going to come through.

Our classroom really feels like a community.

I think that everyone from the waiting list got in last year, but they're fully enrolled for the 3-4 year olds.

Why do some Seaton boosters seem to feel the need to pit Garrison against Seaton? Do you hope to gain more affluent, DCUM type parents by crapping all over the neighboring school? Can't find enough negative things to say about Cleveland, so Garrison bears the brunt of it?

It really makes me wonder about the types of parents who send their kids to Seaton. Hopefully it's just a few nasty apples.

+1 It is really odd. Hopefully, it's just one rogue parent with some sort of axe to grind and not represetative of all Seaton parents. It is definitely a turn off to prospective parents. I have not seen the same kind of nastiness from Garrison families. If you are in DCPS, you should all root for one another, not try to bring each other down.

I don't really see it like this. I think that the schools are really closely located to each other, so the comparison is inevitable.

Could also be prospective families who have toured both schools.

Definitely not a representative of all Seaton parents.

Seaton. There's no comparison.

To be honest, once I'd looked at this, I was pretty annoyed at the boosters for Garrison on this site. There's simply no contest. It's also clear if you tour both.

Because some of us were in boundary for both and had to make that choice. Anyone who suggests that Garrison is a better school is being disingenuous. Look at the facts.

BTW, my child doesn't go to Seaton.

I have no dog in this fight, but obviously there is a comparison to be made. If you are close to one, you are close to the other.

I have yet to see a Garrison booster say that Garrison is better than Seaton. At most, I've seen Garrison parents say that it was a better choice for their family. But I have seen a lot of Seaton boosters putting Garrison down. Just poor taste.

I'm confused by the latest Round 1 numbers (and garrison and seaton are both close to our home, so likely contenders for us in PK3 next year): Garrison's test scores are way worse, but Garrison's PK filled up more than Seaton's? You'd think that, given that both schools are close by each other so many parents consider both of them, Seaton would be in far more demand than Garrison. Am I understanding the numbers right? Can anyone explain?
