To Paint All Interior Doors Black or Not?

Anonymous
Don't do it, unless it's just a couple doors to make a statement. Sometimes this looks good if you have really bright colors on your walls. Otherwise, not a good idea.

We are house hunting and if I see another house in the DC metro with anything painted GRAY I will scream. Don't do it people, if you plan to sell. It is so depressing and the weather is gray enough in the winter/spring here anyhow. If you love the black or gray trend and plan to move soon, get some pillows or curtains or something.

OP I really wouldn't do this if you plan to have any color on the walls. I'm an interior design junkie and the only way this looks good is with a fabulous, well-designed house, white walls, french metal windows, great art, etc. Or a very modern house. I really don't think it looks good with tan walls and the pink walls in the house with link!

I like it. It looks good with the white trim and neutral walls....I think all white/black might be too harsh.

We have a 1950s ranch with flat panel doors throughout and I'm thinking about doing this. Thoughts? Walls are all linen white right now and we don't get lots of sun but the rooms are big and I love black so we have lots of black furniture/ accessories.

Interesting. My first thought was "No Way", but those look good. Of course you need the right kind of house to pull it off.

Hideous, like death looming over you in every room. Creepy.
