| Instead of wondering what other people are doing, why don't you take the time to talk to the Head of School and the development office about the need and then carefully consider what YOU can do? |
I agree with you. I grew up working class and hell - even my parents could have afforded $5 for a good cause from which their kids benefit without complaining about it. |

We cover the tuition gap, which for us is $1,300. (There's a little additional giving here and there, but not toward the Annual Fund.)
I also "give" by participating in the annual campaign team, which helps to bring in more. Gifts I solicited this year ranged from around $20 to around $5,000. |
| $7,500-$10,000/year |
Each at two different schools (two children at one, one at the other). |
| Used to give. Now we give NOTHING. Too much is made of the $$ and it doesn't make any difference but separates the big donor families from the smaller donor families. Unhealthy all around. |
| $2000 to one school and $1250 to another. |

We just had the auction at out school, we gave $30,000 to the scholarship fund. Didn't buy anything at the auction. But they hit up the grandparents more than they do us. I don't even want to know what my parents gave. They adore the school and their grandchildren.
P.S. multiple other people gave a $10,000 amount to the scholarship fund. |
Dayyyyyyyyyyyyum. Thank you! You're doing a good thing. - a mom who cried with joy when she saw our FA package |
Not that PP but I'm so happy for you and your kid, and in a way selfishly for my kid. His two best buds at school get FA and if they don't get enough this year, they aren't returning. It always makes me try to give more to the fund, but I sure can't do anything like $30k. Wow. |
| We are on financial aid (still pay most tuition though) and gave $300 as we are maxed out since my other kid goes to a school that doesn't offer financial aid, and we get family help for that. |

$5,000
One child at the school. I hope our school doesn't hit the grandparents up more than the parents. Neither my folks nor DH's are in a position to donate to DC's private school, and I know mine will feel guilty if they don't. I really don't want that. |
This!!!! |
| We give $1000 each year. Our stats: 2 kids at small PK-8 school, tuition is $28k per kid with HHI of $250k, and no FA. |
|
I gave $25 this year. Child on 100% scholarship. Wanted to be sure to be included in the total giving. Do not do Starbucks. Do not eat out. Don't have extras. No cable-use the phone's wifi for internet. We spend about $125 a week on food.
DD doesn't have a jump shot!! But many other lovely attributes-and a wonderful school community. We love it more each year. The best kept secret in DC. |
