I'm genuinely curious.

It's my wake/funeral dress. One is all I need.

I have none. The last time I wore a dress was five and a half years ago. I just never have the need for dresses, let alone a black one.

I don't think I have any solid black dresses. Why is a BLACK dress so important?

Just the one black dress, though I do have plenty of other black items of clothing.

Nobody said it was important. It's just very common.

I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and right now I have 1 summer black dress.

I haven't been anywhere important enough where I needed to wear a black dress. My job is casual, no parties, no funerals or anything else.

Do you get invited to Christmas parties? Weddings? Baptisms? Special dinners?

NP, I also have one. I don't get invited to any of the things listed. Many of us are transplants.

Who cares?

Why not just go naked if he doesn't care?

Missed logic class did you? There is a big difference between repeating clothes and going naked in social situations. Apart from societal norms, nudity in public places will get you arrested.

But lets assume her DH is in a place where nudity is acceptable - her DH should be naked if he wants to.

BTW - Most people are also not as shallow as you are. Your self esteem seems to be tied with your clothes.

I have 1 black dress. I have other black separates. I am more a trousers person than dresses anyways.

He IS cheap, all our circle knows that! But again, who cares? He always gets the highest bonus at work and our friends keep inviting him back, so I don't think his three outfits are holding him back.

one that is all black

2 other "sundresses" that are black with another color pattern on them.

Not PP you were talking to, but I never wear black to celebrations, particularly not at a wedding or baptism. Black for me is reserved for funerals.

I don't think I'll own many more until I get a breast reduction. I find a dress that fits about once every 5 years. I lost weight recently and the black dress is one of two dresses that fit me. Oddly, I bought them both on eBay.

This was me. I had a tough time finding a dress that fit me because I was a size 14 top and a size 8 bottom. Just had s significant breast reduction and wear a size 8 dress now. Could not be happier!

Nothing worse than going cheap....
