MIL walks around half naked

You're so uptight! Maybe wearing pants and a top is too warm for her and she's more comfortable this way.

This is a big deal?

I think this was a troll to mock how prudish Americans are and get them riled up. Americans don't typically use the term "dressing gown."

Got any pics?

OP I feel your pain. My in-laws do this. My MIL will hold a conversation with you in her bra and I look away. My husband HATES when she does this. She will also try to chat when you are trying to get dressed. She actually has said to me "don't mind me, you can get dressed while we talk" and I still won't do it...ew! Your son can see my naked lady, but I'm not into being naked with my MIL. Bleck!

I once dated a guy who's mother walked around in muumuus all day, some of which were see-through. She once patted me on the butt and said "If I had a tush that cute I'd wear jeans too. Enjoy your little figure while you have it honey." Wasn't quite sure how to respond.

My mom sometimes just takes off her shirt with her bra on and her pants with her panties on and just sits there like everything is ok.

Right now, she's sitting on the sofa, with her dressing gown hiked up and rubbing her naked thigh. It is disgusting. That is all. I feel like people should have a little respect and the courtesy to be fully dressed when they are a guest in someone else's home.

Hot flashes are a bitch, as you will soon find out.

Unless OP is 20, her MIL is too old for hot flashes. Don't be ridiculous. I have a 9 year old and have hot flashes.

+1 Agree, and you also have to think about genetic traits that could be passed to children. Some people seem to not consider that possibility.

Are you going to object to your children's choices for partners if their family has certain genetic traits you find undesirable?

+1. Do you mean a nightgown or a robe? Were you having visitors or was it just your immediate family (her son and grandchildren) present? You are a judgemental prude, OP.

I used to have to enter the house first and tell my friends to wait outside a minute when I cam home from school to tell him to go get dressed. It was gross when he was 40-something, and it's gross now that he's 70. This doesn't fix your problem. I just wanted to share.

LOL. OMG, I'm sorry

My dad did this at night before bed. I guess I should be glad his undershorts were clean and hole-free (thanks Mom!). However, I never had sleep-overs at my house.

+1. And PP, it's pretty low of you
to demonstrate her underwear to DH. You humiliated an older woman and embarrassed your DH - even if you wear a spacesuit at home, you are not a good person.

This.

If she does wear it, more power to her. If not, maybe she just has a good sense of humor and planted it there for you to find.
We now have underwear police? When, pray tell, is it no longer acceptable to wear a thong--and will you be laughing about her granny panties and their tell tell line. Some of you need to grow up.
