Do you think people who don't drink are uptight?

I'm not a big drinker and I'm not uptight. I just don't like alcohol. It tastes awful to me and I have no tolerance. I don't like how it makes me feel. I get headaches and I feel bad the next day. So if it makes me feel like that and that is why I don't drink, how does that make me uptight? I should feel like shit so people don't think I have a stick up my ass? Personally, I enjoy watching my friends drink when I am sober. It can be quite entertaining.

I think people who rant about others arriving a few minutes early to a dinner party are uptight.

No, I just think they don't want to drink.

I think they have their reasons to not drink and leave them alone about it. I work with many people in recovery from alcohol and substance dependence. You'd be amazed how many of them worry others will judge them for not drinking.

Alcohol is a migraine trigger for me, too (like a pp said). Plus, I'd rather eat dessert than drink those calories.

Uptight? Not really. Laid back but quiet.

Suggestion: try staying sober and observe those around you who drink. Some folks have problems. Some folks embarrass themselves. Some folks make me feel sad for them.

Who planned the dinner? Did your husband? Did you complain! Why is he calling you uptight?

Yep, this is me too. And if I have more than just a glass, I wake up at 3am and cannot get back to sleep. It's a clear choice. Sleep wins most times.

Wtf? Of course not. I don't drink but I know how to party and have a good time. And people who do drink aren't alcoholics.

Anonymous wrote:Yes I do. It may not be a fair judgement, but it's generally true in my experience. I'm sure if asked, they wouldn't say they were uptight, so I'm not surprised at some of these responses.

Your post is such a sad commentary on many people's viewpoint about drinking. It can put pressure on those who don't need to be drinking.

I'm drinking right now.

Yup. One friend of ours quit drinking when he realized it was becoming a problem.

I know some fairly uptight non drinkers, and some who simply don't drink.

What the heck is your husband's issue?

I just can't imagine going to a nice dinner or being on vacation and not having a drink. Do you know what you're missing?? I don't think you're uptight but perhaps unsophisticated...

So if you're going to a nice dinner, holiday party, etc you pop a sleeping pill before bed. Problem solved. Cheers!

I drink some, but "do you know what you're missing??" seems a little harsh. Some people are missing migraines, being ill, etc.
