Why are FCPS teachers suing their former principal?

WTOP, FOX, USA9, etc….everyone has picked it up and if true, the allegations are so bad.

I agree…four employees wouldn't have put their jobs on the line for this unless it was true. I'm happy that they are standing up to her and not letting fear stop them from moving forward. And, it sounds like she also must have done this before at her other school. I would be moving my kids if they were students at Bailey's due to this drama. Sad for everyone involved.

After reading the whole lawsuit, I am appalled by the actions of Principle Lemmon and would encourage everyone to email the Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent below and express your discontent with the actions or Ms. Lemmon and call for her to be fired.

+1000! These are allegations, people. Let the court decide what's true and what's not.

I don't know her personally, but she has a reputation of bulldozing her way around and I have seen her do this from afar.

I'm Glad people finally stood up to her and her antics. It's clear from those I talk with in Different communities that she has been bullying her colleagues and subordinates for a long time. And, how does she get away with it??!!

From what I hear, if you don't agree with her, her take is that you can hit the door one way or the other. Let's ask how many new teachers the school has hired in her tenure there.

I do hope folks will contact the school board and superintendant Garza. Even with this being an allegation, she should consider
a central office job until it's resolved. She should not be in a school with many non-white students, even if this is an allegation until someone can get to the bottom of it.

One person claiming this I would question it...but four? Seems obvious that something is wrong. (Not totally sure what it is , but something.)

Our kids deserve better. Contact Supt. Garza and Sandy Evans.

Classic mean girl (Lemmon) meets classic whiny girl (Charlton), who then finds some other "victims" to ride along to bolster an alleged "pattern" of discrimination (Calhoun, et. al) = very poorly drafted, but marginaly titillating, complaint.

Kind of a bummer, though, that FCPS ends up spending money that could be spent on teachers and kids on outside attorneys' fees to defend this.

As someone familiar with the parties involved, I have to say your post is spot-on. My only addition would be to add "mean" to Charlton's description. You could throw at rock at Bailey's and hit plenty of staff who were bullied and at the mercy of her antics. Lemmon needs to put a filter on her mouth. Perhaps the two of them should be reassigned to share an office together at Gatehouse. That would be the best for teachers and students.

Parents, too. I always thought Rachel Charlton seemed to be on some kind of power trip by being as unhelpful as possible. I know a few parents who were happy to see her go. Didn't realize it was a demotion, but it seems obvious it was. Marie Lemmon can be abrasive, but I think she's done some good things for the school.

Its 4 now, willing to bet its more before long......make no mistake folks, this is gonna get way worse for FCPS/Lemmon

The lawsuit says she was 0 for 40(aprox) in hiring minority candidates....that would be hard in freaking Sweden..
