The Affair (Showtime)

Also, Pacey (can't remember his name on this show!) seems to be a jerk for being pissed that Alison wants to move on from the tragedy of the lost child. All around, I do not like him.

I do feel bad for Noah's wife. She seems to be a reasonable woman who loves her husband and pretty easygoing. Her only flaw seems to be that she is accustomed to a more expensive lifestyle, which makes sense in light of how she grows up.

Didn't the cop specifically ask Noah if he had ever been to The End an episode or so ago? So, clearly Noah has been to The End, and why would he lie when he was there with his best friend anyway? And Noah's wife seemed to pick up on the fact that Noah was out way later than his best friend - but no questions asked?

agree - on top of the whole fight scene with Oscar in the parents house in the previous episode- the outburst itself was bad, plus Noah was outed at having broke down presumably no where near the bagel store. I feel bad for Helen, but I feel like she should be way more pissed at this point.

also agree that I find the PDA scenes between Alison/Noah to be unbelievable- would assume she would be way more careful.

I think we will find out why Noah didn't admit to being at The End.

Helen is starting to catch on that something is off but they have had such a solid marriage for so long and he is such an upstanding guy that she can't even go there yet. And on some level she probably knows that if she asks he will make up an excuse, which will be worse. She knows he hates being at her parents' and she can tell he's kind of going through something, so she is probably chalking up strange behavior to that for now. But she is mulling it over.

I agree the PDA was not smart but remember this is their recollection, not necessarily what actually happened. I can't remember which segment the dirty dancing was in but it's possible that they really were more careful but they just remember being all over each other because that's what they were thinking about at the time.

I love this show!

Alison in the police interviews is more polished looking, with shorter hair, nicer clothes and what i suspect is supposed to look like an expensive handbag. She also says something about going back to the City (as if she now lives in Manhattan). And she now has a child again. So her life has changed significantly since she meet Noah in the flashbacks, and makes me sense in some way she's coming into substantially more money than before and has moved, with a kid. Does this mean she's with Noah? Or maybe they did sell the ranch, took the cash and started over, with Cole.

Noah in the interviews seems to still be the sort of sloppy, disheveled professor look, wearing hoodies and tshirts. Don't get me wrong, I still think he's super hot, but he doesn't seem any different than he did in the flashbacks. They show him during a break speaking to Trevor (which I think is the sensitive younger son) about writing a paper for school, so I assume a few years have passed from the flash backs.

After this last episode, I don't trust Alison at all. She's shady and a bit self righteous. I was totally shocked she would be a drug dealer. It completely changed how I felt about her.

And Oliver I think starts to blackmail Noah. Noah and Alison have been totally sloppy re their affair. It wouldn't be hard to figure it out, and Oliver is totally nosy.

I'm getting bored with it, just watch the episode where Noah told his wife, just appears to drag on

I'm completely sucked in and enjoying.

I think several years pass between the affair and the conversations with the detective.

Based on last night I'm thinking the child is Allison's and Cole's, but maybe it isn't. There's always that loophole....

I think Helen didn't ask questions as I think she knew, but she was trying very hard to pretend everything was normal.

I don't know if they are still together, but there's still some sort of connection which could be explained if they have a child together. Noah doesn't strike me as the type who would walk away from a child.

It does look like some time has passed when they are talking to the detective. But why did they show so many scenes of the detective digging around into Noah during this past episode? The book, going to the hotel at The End, taking pics at the beach house.

I think the detective thinks Noah's hiding something. He also seems to be skeptical of Allison.

Me too

And I'm wondering why they didn't cast more attractive people in the lead roles.

I fear a paternity question re: the inevitable kid Alison will have. I get that she was on birth control and now she's stopping, but it's not 100% effective an she was sleeping with both guys.

I was not a fan of Alison getting all creepy and stalker-ish.

I abhor Mare Winningham's character. So, she is okay with the risk of her kids being beaten to smithereens in the drug trade as long as she doesn't have to sell her ramshackle ranch? Mother of the year.

The only likeable character is Helen. And maybe Helen and Noah's kids who are not Whitney. I do love how they write Whitney, though. Such a teenage thing to say "don't deny my reality"

Great show! So many places to go with it

I think they're all attractive and it feels more real that they are not all ridiculously Hollywood-gorgeous.

Hello, Dominic west is insanely good looking!

I saw a behind the scenes YouTube video released by show time that discusses the casting. Ruth Wilson/ Allison was cast partialy because she had a face that could be made up as young and bohemian and then later made to look hard and old, making it very hard to guess her actual age

The writers apparently wanted Maura, Dominic and Joshua specifically for those roles, which I found to be very interesting.
