| One of the other things to keep in mind is that therapy does not create linear results. Often it can seem that nothing is happening and then an ahaa maybe I can change this. I know with my daughter it has been a bit of a push/pull oh maybe we can change, respond differently. Also sometimes as parents we can't respond in an effective manner to a problem because our own baggage, therapists can be very helpful sounding boards for kids. |

OP again here, ds seems so much better since he met with the psychologist.
He has always been staunchly anti meds. He refused them. Now he mentioned he is thinking about them, he didn't say he will take them for sure. He is however, willing to think/ talk about meds. Im very very surprised. |
1923 here... That is great news..... Again, I think Meds should be considered as last resort in my opinion. I think many behavioral strategies will work and not all need to go the route of meds. Keep the visits and one of the key too is realization and acceptance. The fact he is considering meds means he is starting to feel aware and the need to control the situation. |
