What illegal HOA signs? Who or what is illegal here?

Also, where do you get the idea that unauthorized immigrants are ineligible for workers' comp?

Yes, mine does. The idea is that it is a supposed to be a community of people who actually live there, not greedy developers who are just out to make money and ultimately neglect the property. The rentals are by far the saddest looking houses in the neighborhood - scraggly landscaping, toys left out, etc etc. I'm sorry, but the hillbillies can go rent somewhere else where that crap is commonplace. I bought into what was supposed to be a "nice" neighborhood for a reason. I basically told them to keep up the neighborhood pool, playground and communal landscaping and stop poking your pathetic noses around my house to see where I keep my garbage cans. I can't stand these petty little people who let some small-time role on an HOA board go to their heads.

Shorter PP: I don't think that the HOA has a right to tell me what to do with my property, but it does have a right to tell other people what to do with their property.

This is what I saw. The hillbillies leave toys out but I should be able to leave my garbage cans out.

Oh yes. Because my garbage cans, left on a concrete pad discreetly placed right next to my garage is such an eyesore, vs. tons of plastic toys left strewn all over the lawn.

Sorry but yes - the redneck hillbillies can go hang out where no one cares about that kind of crap.

If the hillbillies can afford the rent in your neighborhood, it's probably not as upscale as you think it is.

I never said it was upscale. I said it was nice. These property management companies/developers are buying foreclosures at a cheap price and then renting them cheap. Just because a neighborhood is full of homes priced for the middle class does not mean that people don't care about their homes. Most all of us do - except the renters, who feel like they've hit the jackpot in being able to afford the place and don't get that they're not in the holler anymore. But I don't see the HOA getting all up in their face about putting their 4,000 second-hand plastic big wheels and other crap back in their garages at night. They're far too focused on my trash cans to even notice, apparently.

I thought a weed was a plant a you did not want. If you planted wildflowers how are they weeds? Does your HOA really only allow the planting of non-indigenous lawn grass?

I seed about 1/4 acre with annual wildflowers every year. They bloom all summer long and my neighbors love it. They make beautiful arrangements, attract the butterflies and bees to pollenate, whats not to love. In MoCo the county also encourages the planting of wildflowers to improve drainage and soil contitions.

I am the trash can lady. I am not OP. And guess what? I did do that. These HOA busybodies literally walk your property while you are away because they are sad, petty people who feel special because of their place on the HOA board.

Trash can lady, please stop hijacking OP's thread.

I'm OP. She's right on point. Trash can lady, I welcome you

Thank you. And I feel your pain, OP. Fight the good fight!

OK, then can you both label yourselves when you post? Trash can lady is complaining about HOAs, trash cans, and hillbillies who rent; OP is complaining about HOAs, meadows, and illegals.

Well then you've figure it out haven't you, negating the need for us to identify. Good for you!

No, not in the DMV. Now cue the people who say I'm not allowed to be here.

Any fine involved? What is this HOA going to do to you? Take you to court?

I would ignore. Don't let them engage you in a back-and-forth. Pay your HOA fee but ignore. Do what you want to do.

Illegal is one thing - nothing illegal here. A difference in taste is just a difference in taste.

"Covenant"s are not enforceable. For a HOA, are your signed documents in place now that specific re: plantings?

I think you left out a major point before "getting landscapers to show up." It wasn't being taken care of.

It's not nice to withhold information from us.

I think your meadow sounds awesome! We've got a much smaller yard but have a 10x10 space with just wildflowers. It's looking a little ragged now but we still have tons of finches and butterflies. I would LOVE a meadow!

I've had dealings with a HOA in the past and found that many of the board members are on a power trip. They will act imperiously and in violation of the law and covenants. I was glad that couple with the political sign was willing to battle their HOA

Since the meadow was approved, I hope you are able to maintain your stance against the board. Good luck!

That is an INSANE story. I get that the couple were being difficult, but why would the HOA put itself in a position to incur such costs?

There are plenty of landscaping companies that don't consist of illegals. Hire one.

It's all about the power trip many board members have. I've seen it happen many times. The couple in this story pushed back, the board got pissed and decided to push harder. They lost. Pride goes before a fall.

OP, I don't think she can do anything if you had approval. If you don't have the approval, it could be a problem, but I don't think she can do anything. She's got to get a lawyer to put a lien against your house.
