Yes, mine does. The idea is that it is a supposed to be a community of people who actually live there, not greedy developers who are just out to make money and ultimately neglect the property. The rentals are by far the saddest looking houses in the neighborhood - scraggly landscaping, toys left out, etc etc. I'm sorry, but the hillbillies can go rent somewhere else where that crap is commonplace. I bought into what was supposed to be a "nice" neighborhood for a reason. I basically told them to keep up the neighborhood pool, playground and communal landscaping and stop poking your pathetic noses around my house to see where I keep my garbage cans. I can't stand these petty little people who let some small-time role on an HOA board go to their heads.

Shorter PP: I don't think that the HOA has a right to tell me what to do with my property, but it does have a right to tell other people what to do with their property.

This is what I saw. The hillbillies leave toys out but I should be able to leave my garbage cans out.

Oh yes. Because my garbage cans, left on a concrete pad discreetly placed right next to my garage is such an eyesore, vs. tons of plastic toys left strewn all over the lawn.

Sorry but yes - the redneck hillbillies can go hang out where no one cares about that kind of crap.

OP if you like to garden so much, why not put bushes around your trash cans so that they can't be seen?

I am the trash can lady. I am not OP. And guess what? I did do that. These HOA busybodies literally walk your property while you are away because they are sad, petty people who feel special because of their place on the HOA board.

If the hillbillies can afford the rent in your neighborhood, it's probably not as upscale as you think it is.

I never said it was upscale. I said it was nice. These property management companies/developers are buying foreclosures at a cheap price and then renting them cheap. Just because a neighborhood is full of homes priced for the middle class does not mean that people don't care about their homes. Most all of us do - except the renters, who feel like they've hit the jackpot in being able to afford the place and don't get that they're not in the holler anymore. But I don't see the HOA getting all up in their face about putting their 4,000 second-hand plastic big wheels and other crap back in their garages at night. They're far too focused on my trash cans to even notice, apparently.

No. I think they only have a right to tell me if they apply the rules fairly to everyone. Which they don't. So they can piss off and focus on the things that improve the community for everyone that they actually seem able to achieve - pool, playground, landscaping. They have proved imminently incapable of doing anything else. And they have no leg to stand on as a result.

So if they made everybody have a golf-course lawn, that would be ok with you? Your objection is that you're the only one whose landscaping they're making a fuss about?

Golf course lawns add value, the weedy or other plants are an acquired taste and not liked by most people.

Because I find it incredibly ironic. And I am a principled person

I don't understand what is ironic. A Republican with a wildflower meadow? A conservative who conserves?

I also don't understand how immigration issues are relevant. The new HOA president wants you to mow. You don't want to mow, and you don't think you should have to mow. Presumably both of you are legally authorized to be in the US.

I do mow. You clearly did not read my original post. The irony is I have a well-planned (professionally) meadow garden, maintained in a green fashion. Yet it the liberal 'global warming' neighbors who want chemlawn instead. Fascinating. Not in my backyard, eh?

Hop irking illegals is....illegal. That's all you need to understand

Hiring illegals is illegal - sigh

Yes, they do. It's quite sad. Damn you for having trash cans - those nasty things! Good lord, these HOAs have literally nothing better to do

If you vote liberal, you are now a hypocrite. Enviironmental concerns don't matter, eh?

Have you talked to your neighbors about their voting choices and their beliefs about global climate change? Also, who is requiring you to use Chemlawn?

Meanwhile, yes, it is illegal to hire people who are not legally authorized to work. It's not illegal to hire companies who may or may not hire people who are not legally authorized to work. I still don't understand what this has to do with your meadow. Does the HOA president have a cousin who is an unauthorized immigrant, and she wants you to hire her cousin to maintain your meadow?

OK, then can you both label yourselves when you post? Trash can lady is complaining about HOAs, trash cans, and hillbillies who rent; OP is complaining about HOAs, meadows, and illegals.

Don't have to. Their illegai HOA signs told the tale.

It is illegal for those companies to hire those workers. It is also a huge homeowner's liability because the companies who hire them can't use their insurance, so the illegal comes after the homeowner
