Which prestigious colleges are the "second tier" students going to?

Anonymous
Barnard is a member of (what's left) the Seven Sisters. I would think its tier two.

Ick.

I wonder how they'll rank in USNWR this year after their (ridiculous IMO) nine spot gain last year.

The school seems like a cult of sorts.

One persons "cult" is another's alumni network. Think about what that means for a career path. There is a reason PSU grads achieve more than most Ivy grads.

But how did PSU get USNWR to drink the kool aid?

Offered USNWR the choice between Kool-Aid and a shower?

What, exactly, is a second-tier student? Do you mean anyone who is not admitted to H/Y/P/S, or do you mean anyone with a A-/B+ avg. and a 2200+ SAT? Or are they the solid B/B+ students with SAT scores < 2200?

Agree. Troll.

Williams is a potted Ivy, almost as hard to get into as the Big Boys. No way is it ranked with the schools you listed. Equal to Notre Dame? Really.

Slackers sure have an outsize opinions of themselves and their tiny schools in rural backwaters. Let's look at the facts:

Notre Dame V 660 - 750 M 680 - 770
Williams. V 670 - 780. M 660-780

Notre Dame 17,000 applicants
Williams 7,069 applicants

Seems like ND has a lot more applicants to choose from at nearly identical levels.

BTW I didn't go to either and have no dog in this fight.

I have no dog in this fight, but Williams is head and shoulders above Notre Dame.
