RUde incident in Giant?

Didn't she say "I'm sorry" and was back in a minute? Huh? Scratching my head.

"How do people like you get from Point A to Point B? Your thinking is like a fault line. Thanks for sharing your unimportant, non-precious opinion on a forum no one worthwhile should be. "

And who are you, exactly? Go on with your precious self and see how far you get. I do quite well getting from point A to point B. Maybe you need to out source your grocery shopping since it seems to upset you so much. Or maybe try home delivery. You seem to be a wretched woman. When was the last time you smiled?

Cannot stand people like you. You are the ones who make life around here really suck. Is it so hard to be nice to someone who lives in your own community? I once ran to get something I had forgotten and someone pushed my cart out of the way to get ahead of us -- AND MY DC WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE. I was like, why did you let her push the cart out of the way? He was too shy to say anything. I was floored that someone would have the nerve to do that to a child. He was 9.

People like you two PPs are really unlikable. So glad I am not raising my children to behave or think like you do.

I would gladly let someone back in line if they ran to get something. Gladly. It's easy for nice people.

Don't be so obtuse. Does it occur to you that OP left the car running with the AC on? That's what most people do when leaving somebody in a car on a hot day. You're reaching.

Anonymous wrote:Sorry, OP. In general, if you forgot something, the right thing to do would be to step aside and let others in front of you.

Or, complete checkout, then get water and check out a second time.

The woman was rude, but I think you were too.

This.

This is absurd. No one in their right mind would get out of line and go to the back of the line because they forgot something. What would the point of that be, since everyone is just standing there waiting anyway?

No one behaves this way IRL. No one.

Completely agree with you. People forget things all the time. You simply ask the person behind you if you can go back and get it.

I would also likely let someone back in, but I would also think they are rude, selfish, and entitled.

Same here. These things come up often because I'm used to a much faster-paced city than DC, and I just can't understand the local conception of time.

Otherwise one would hope the lady would be kind enough to let it go. However, unless your items were already on the belt, I don't blame her for pushing ahead. I agree with a PP, your time is no more valuable than hers.

Once I had my items on the belt, and stepped to the side to look at the cover of a magazine. My feet couldn't have been more than about 12" from the line of people. The person in front of me was still paying. The man behind me shoved my items back and put his down in front of mine. Words were exchanged, his argument being that I "got out of line." That was ridiculous.

OMG - I have seen this- laughable! As in, laugh in their face laughable

What are you talking about? I was responding to your idiotic post, not shopping.

I don't assume anything of the kind. Op said that she left her elderly (disabled, dementia victim??) nursing home resident mother alone in the car, on a hot summer day. AC or no AC probably not the wisest of moves on the Op's part.

Anonymous wrote:HI. I had a very unfortunate incident in the GIANT this afternoon.

Had my elderly mother in the car waiting. I had picked her up from the senior home she lives in and was shopping for her at the GIANT for only a few items.

I was in line to checkout and forgot that I had forgotten the water. I wasn't near the front, so I said to the lady behind me, "I'm so sorry, I'll be back because I forgot something"

I ran to get water and ran back in less than a minute.

IN the meantime, the lady behind me had moved my cart to the side. I came back huffing and puffing with my water and said "I believe I was ahead of you ma'am. Her response was "I am done with MY shopping and you are not!"

I was so exasperated. I ran off with my cart and found another register.

To me, this is typical of the rudeness I see in this area. Just nasty and unnecessary rudeness.

How should I have handled this? Is it so long to get out of line for a minute if you have forgotten an item.

I wanted to dump a container of Cool Whip on this slob's head.

Love how OP repeatedly calls it the GIANT. Like it's GIANT!

Lol.

Or rather, LOL!

I have had people in front of me forget something and have to step out of line for a minute. I usually start loading their stuff on the belt for them. That doesn't make me an extraordinary person. It just means that I choose not to be a dick towards the people I share this planet with.

MY idiotic post? Hmmm? Are you the OP? If so, you are the idiot.

Go back to the GIANT, sweety. Thankfully I will never have to come across you there.

Meh, anyone who does their own shopping every week at The Giant has had this sort of thing happen - either you forget or the person in front you forgets an item and needs to go back for it. Usually it is not a big deal, not worth even commenting on. I've even let people go ahead of me if they had a child acting up or only had a few items compared to my cart full.

Something tells me that there was a lack of common courtesy...beginning with the Op.
