Why not? It's a rather small corner lot on a busy intersection, but across from Haycock ES and - although a bit stretch - walkable to WFC metro. Unless of course you're superstitious and believe in ghosts, karma or whatever...

Well it's burned to the ground what 2 times? No thanks. Lightening doesn't strike twice, and not in a house where I'd live with my kids.

"It" is now a new house by a new builder that appears to be going up without a hitch.

I thought the much larger house the prior owner of the property tried to build/sell went up in flames three times.

Someone will buy the new house. It needn't be you.

I think PP was referring to the blatant animosity by the neighbors about the first (if not, one of the first) new builds. New builds do not sit well with people who are in the old houses. One reason is jealousy.

+1

Sometimes property lawyers will advise against living in a hostile neighborhood.

Isn't this like the 3rd burn down?

Isn't the disgruntled arsonist neighbor just a theory, and it could very well be an insurance/whatever scam?

In any case, there's no comparison b/w the original monstrosity and this new house (still a tad big for the lot, imho, but I understand the need to appeal to the most of the buyers), so I don't see any issues that plagued the place before.

"Just a theory"????? Hardly. You seemed to have inadvertently proved that all by yourself.

You think disgruntled neighbors introduce themselves as such when you move in?

Wouldn't THAT be nice.

Pretty much every other house in the neighborhood is a tear-down/rebuild now. No others have burned. I could absolutely see this being an insurance scam by the prior builder.

The house is famous.

I bet it's a boy that used to go to that ES. Usually is. He's probably in middle school maybe even HS now. The owner must've pissed the boy off somehow, even if it wasn't intentional.

That area (West Falls Church/22043) is full of new builds. Some preceded "Gigantor" and others followed. The fires at the one site haven't kept people from building elsewhere in the neighborhood and they obviously haven't dissuaded one of the area's larger builders from building at the same site.

So what? Just because you won't admit there is animosity, does not mean animosity does not exist between old and new houses.

Give it up.

Thank you for posting. Clearly the neighbors are more upset about the large house, than about the fire.

Interesting.

I'm more than happy to acknowledge people like you have a lot of animosity and biases. Others are usually nicer to each other.
