"You can speculate all you want about the cause of the fires. The county has never charged a neighbor with starting the fire because they were worried about higher tax assessments. There are other possible explanations."
"Homeowners in Fairfax County who are 65 or older can seek real estate tax relief if they meet certain requirements." Yes, and the last part is reason enough, if a neighbor is not of age to request a tax relief, and they are possibly so close to being priced out of the neighborhood (due to the new construction); they may not be stable (financially or mentally) enough to handle the situation of their inevitable need for relocation. Its not rocket science. The fact that the neighbor was never charged, does not change the fact that that property will, in the foreseeable future and perhaps beyond, be seen as tainted property. In fact, one such neighborhood has sought to change their neighborhood name after many incidents, only to find the name is not what matters. Why so defensive? Interesting. |
I'm just calling out your BS. I don't think the property will necessarily be seen as tainted, because what's been reported clearly suggests that whatever happened at that site was unique to what the former owner did - or did not do - with the property after buying it back in 2006. He clearly had an antagonistic relationship with some neighbors, and he also reportedly had financial problems. The fact that the neighborhood otherwise has many expensive new homes suggests another builder would not have similar problems. That's not defensive, just my assessment. Maybe you had some personal connection to the property that makes you want to paint a different picture of what happened? |

Everyone knows it is a disgruntled neighbor who resents the new builds. It is happening everywhere in that area, and surrounding towns. It is no secret. It will be interesting when (not if) he is found and tried. |
I thought he died. |

| The street view is always good. |
| 4,695 Sq.ft. - I assume they include the finished basement? Kinda misleading... |
| I saw that last week when I drove by. I cannot believe someone would buy that place. |
Sekas has a lot of experience building new houses quickly in existing neighborhoods. That means his crew won't be a nuisance and they'll finish up relatively soon. The price is also good for a new house in that area - Stanley Martin is now selling new houses for $1.5-1.9 million a few blocks away. |
I looked at the property records for Sekas houses that are the same model and have already been built. It seems like it's probably around 3600 SF above-grade and the rest is finished basement space. |
Why not? It's a rather small corner lot on a busy intersection, but across from Haycock ES and - although a bit stretch - walkable to WFC metro. Unless of course you're superstitious and believe in ghosts, karma or whatever... |
Well it's burned to the ground what 2 times? No thanks. Lightening doesn't strike twice, and not in a house where I'd live with my kids. |
It wasn't lightning. It was arson. Both times. But the arsonist is dead. |
