How is Ritchie Park these days?

I've got no dog in this fight but it's not clear to me why everyone sees one poster with a vendetta AGAINST the school. If anything, i see one poster with a vendetta FOR the school and multiple people trying to tell her why she is wrong.

It's probably the same two people, neither of whom will convince the other. The RP hater will stew in her disdain for the punitive principal, and the supporter will refuse to acknowledge that the mean lunch monitor is not helping.

I don't have a dog in the fight either but friends that send their kids to RP really like it. My two cents.

your right, actually. And you know what is funny, I have friends who send their child to RP who hate it. Actually, I don't know if they hate the school, they have had a terrible second grade year and say their second grade teacher is awful, and I think may have also complained about lunch and recess but I could be wrong. Shrugs shoulders.

RP parent of 3rd grader here. Yea, one of the 2nd grade teachers isn't very good. But from what I hear, ALL the 3rd grade teachers are great. I have only experienced 2 out of the 4, and the 2 are great.

Well I went to their kindergarten orientation and that was awful. Now that I see these posts I am starting to worry.

My son is in kindergarten at RP this year and has a very good teacher. Sorry you didn't have a good orientation experience - they do another one in August once teachers are assigned and you get to meet the teacher and get used to the classroom. Maybe you will like that one better.

+1 My K loves the teacher, a lot. DC's jumped two reading-grade levels since the start of K. RP is not the best school in the area, but it's certainly not the worst. And 5 kids go into HGC at Barnsley from RP, so academically at least, the school is not that bad.

Minimum from each school is 4 and many parents self-teach and tutor. The 2nd and 5th grade teachers are the worst. Many kids go to St E's and St. Raphaels if that tells you something.

Parent of an rp third grader. The third grade team is amazing. The first grade team is as well. I don't know the kinder team, they have all changed since my child has been in kinder. 2nd grade was awful. I've heard not heard good things about 4th and 5th but have no experience.

The 3rd grade team is great so is the AP. If you don't like the principal then complain to her boss who is the community superintendent. If you don't complain nothing will happen.

Who cares if kids go to St. E's and St. Raphel's? You could poll parents from every local school and find someone who doesn't like a teacher and someone else who loved their teachers, or that has an mediocre principal and mean lunch lady. RP has a lot of great aspects, and some things that could use improvement - probably like most of the local schools. I have friends at 6 or 7 ES's around here - many are happy, but all complain about something.

Don't listen to the few complainers on this board who relentless find ways to tear down the RP community.

There is no minimum for the hgc...some schools send none.

Umm no. All schools in MCPS are not the same....you've been drinking the let's believe everything and everyone is a P-kool aid. A bad principal and bad teachers can make a huge difference on a local school.

Who revived this thread so they could talk about how amazing rp is? It's tiresome.

Why did you come back, 21:44? Go back to crapping on someone else's school.
