also those melissa and doug puzzles that make noise when you put the piece in the right place. we had the animal one and it would make random animal noises on it's own...i would hear a cow moo at 4 am.
Same thing happened to me and I'm a big fan of Melissa&Doug-however it's very disconcerting to hear a horse neighing in a farmless neighborhood at naptime when the house is totally quiet.

Strangely, I love the harmonica-it's just funny hearing the kids try and play it cuz it's one of those strange instruments where even the most untrained performer can produce something that sounds like a tune, even if it's reminiscent of a bunch of hobos on a train. Hate anything with lots of little pieces and things that make noise when not actually being played with(not counting puppies).

The Learning Puppy seems to be a contender for the most annoying! DS received this for Xmas from MIL - not only are the sounds creepy and irritating, but it seriously the ugliest toy I've ever seen. MIL also bought him this obnoxious toy that has a car steering wheel and makes sounds - one of those sounds is "Out of the Way!" Just the phrase I'd love for my DS to pick up.

Thank goodness DS freaked out and started screaming at the Hallmark animatronic Santa she purchased. All Hallmark animatronics are now considered off limits - too scary. What a good little boy I have.

LOL! The Learning Puppy drives me nuts, but I agree that the M&D Farm puzzle is the creepiest - I can hear it from the playroom sometimes mooing all by itself. And my DS loves the ball popper, but it's not the noise that I hate, it's the fact that I'm constantly chasing the darn balls b/c they don't seem to stay in the popper. DS thinks its hilarious to see me scramble.
