German and French Aftercare

Wisconsin Ave Baptist Church (also just south of Tenleytown metro) runs language immersion preschool in their building (French & Spanish). The program is run by an organization called City Gate, if this is a useful lead.

It is called Caterpillar and has French and Spanish immersion and at last look was a morning only program for preschoolers.

Very interested in French aftercare. Family is half Francophone. At the moment, DC attends Horace Mann. We have been trying to find a good option for language other than say a once weekly language class and have also not been very pleased with the aftercare available at Horace Mann (run by a non-profit from the church across from the school). We are not the only family unimpressed with the mediocre and costly aftercare. We did recently come across Capitol Language Services http://capitollanguageservices.com/, which runs a French, Spanish and Italian immersion aftercare at the church across the street from Murch Elementary. It includes both formal instruction and playtime with various end options including 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30 pm. The director said that some students attend from schools other than Murch but for working families getting to the program is the issue. Very interested in WOTP options but understand that CH area may be more viable for others.

My DC attends as a non-Murch student and we love it! However, the transportation issue has been a bear that we have tackled all year. I'm hoping to continue next year, but I don't have that part figured out yet. If enough parents were interested in starting a shuttle for the non-Murch folks maybe that would make things work for other families. Also, DC attended a lot of Murch after-school programs due to us already being there. International night was fantastic! Everyone is so welcoming and DC has met so many additional friends.

That's good to know! We also attended International Night and really enjoyed it. I assume you know that the director of Capitol Language Services said that she was possibly considering a shuttle if there is enough interest from other families attending area schools. I don't know how many families from each school would be needed to make it viable or how seriously she is considering it, but I think it would help if anyone interested got in touch with her directly about this.

^^ Thank you for this scoop! I'll definitely touch base with them. I'm crossing my fingers to continue and this would be huge. BTW- the end of year showcase was a blast- great show and best pasta EVER!!!!

Also, jeez...you must not be German. It's not a motherland, it's the Vaterland.
