Why won't God show himself?

God sounds like a master manipulator.

But when you consider that it's always people speaking for God, because God doesn't show himself, then it seems more like a matter of people using the concept of God to manipulate other people.

If there were a God this would be the perfect time to show himself because he could reach the entire world with his message in a second through twitter, facebook, this forum etc. Much better than 2000 years ago when only a select few saw him walk on water or turn water into wine (IMO a real God would know that alcohol is nothing but destructive). We are still cavemen in our understanding of the universe. We act like cavemen too.

good point. God spoke down from heaven to Moses, sent his son via a virgin to be killed "for us," has been viewed on toasted cheese sandwiches and has gotten statues to cry tears, but hasn't shown up on the internet yet, where he could contact millions simultaneously.

I have a feeling he's coming soon - whenever he figures out how to have his identifying info tracked back to heaven, or wherever he lives, so he can be verified as the one true god.

That is the beauty of an anonymous forum. God may have posted many times without us knowing.

So this is my question: which of the posts on the site are most likely to have been made by God?

and for those who say they know that God has directly communicated with them, has it ever been on this site or another internet venue?

God is alive and well and visible. We just need to open our eyes.

Open thine eyes. God is all around us, as listed above, and don't forget he's in the incredible mudslides that kill hundreds, a baby born without a brain, a terrifying story from a bag lady, that look between a man and wife as they decide to divorce and the conniving ear of a betraying friend. The lord god does it all.

Nice try, but those things are not God. They come from evil or negativity. God is only goodness, love, light, happiness. I hope some day you see Him in this way.

Pray tell, how does a baby without a brain or a mudslide result from evil or negativity?

These things and things like them are awful, but they may not be your lessons to learn. Have faith that there is a reason for everything, no matter how hard it may be to imagine. We cannot imagine; we are only human and of this earth, but one day we will understand.

Let's see -- in the absence of a response from the person who made this statement ---- it may mean that "not your lessons to learn" means that the mudslide is actually a valuable lesson from God to those he selected for this particular event that he, being God, planned for the ultimate benefit of his beloved human creation. Those would be the victims - now dead - and their loved ones - now mourning. It's beyond human understanding, but those affected, either living or dead, will understand once in God's presence.

As mere humans, some of us have trouble imagining how this could be possible, but those with faith in God can convince themselves of what seems like convoluted thinking and always giving a break to an unseen deity.

Yes! I understand that among the victims was a man who planned to secede (from ?) b/c the govt. was telling people where they could or couldn't build. Like, they couldn't build under potential mudslides. It all makes sense now!

Or maybe the snarkiest ones? Something tells me God has a pretty fucked-up sense of humor.

Thanks for the good laugh -- but on a more serious note, perhaps the issue is that you don't understand the mind of God -- of course -- humans can't. but you'll understand someday - after you're dead., according to what God's messengers on Earth say.

Even if the god of the bible were real, why bow down? Do you go around worshipping your parents for giving you life? No, you live life as an adult on your own terms.

Grow up people.

Why doesn't God turn everybody into the filth left over after a occupy Wall Street event?

According to the bible, he showed himself to the devil, Adam, eve, and others who had the free will to defy him.

God does show himself.

When you see selfless acts of love with virtually no benefit to the giver. That is God. God is love and justice in its pure form.
God created existence itself. He created logic, all matter , physics, chemistry , math and biology. God exists outside of time and a sequence of events. Love is not native to this universe, it is God.

Existence and order from nothing , life from dust and love . Those are the face of God.
