Claire or Clare

I used Claire for my dd, but either spelling is acceptable and you have a good reason to use Clare, so why not?

I have a first name that can be spelled many different ways and there really isn’t one spelling that is clearly more popular. Additionally, there are 3 other common names that are extremely similar to my given name, so my name is also frequently mispronounced. I don’t think it will be a big deal to go through life as Clare with the misspelling of Claire. However, pp is right; you’ll have to order personalized items because you won’t find Clare on anything.

I was in a very, very similar situation: Hailey (more common) and Haley (family connection)

We went with Haley and we have no regrets.

You know that most French and Irish are Catholic, right?
