Great NoVA Neighborhood (more towards Dulles/Oakton), FFX AAP Center School, 1.4M House?

OP, let me just point out that Chantilly High School has a STEM program. I know you said one DC would like to go to TJ, but if DC does not get in, Chantilly may still give DC a bit of what he/she wants.

North Reston - Stone's Throw off Reston Pkwy. 3 houses for sale right now to give you a good idea of what they look like; neighborhood has lots of kids and friendly families (we don't live there but friends of ours do).

Also Cedar Chase Rd and Caris Glenne in Reston (or actually Herndon).

Most of the larger houses that feed into Navy don't have pools in their neighborhood--they belong to International Country Club or Fair Oaks Estate's pool (that neighborhood has houses in the 450-650K range).

Our school has been really good and we lucked out with a neighborhood center school so I was used to that. Any ideas for Hoods that feed into Oakton? My oldest might want to go to TJ and I worry about that long commute- I don't know if oakton area helps measurably with commute vs by toll road but I wouldn't want to go south of 66- too far to work.

bwahahahahah!

Our current neighborhood is VERY social and that is really important to us- lots of neighborhood get togethers, kids playing in the street, etc. We are looking at houses in the 1.2 to 1.6M range. We'd like at least a little land- half acre min. and the elementary schools should be an Ffx AAP center school as our older kids are in AAP and we don't want to manage multiple schools for the younger ones. We both work. We work off of the toll road west of Reston so we don't need to be near DC. Summer swim team a bonus.

Does anyone live in a great fun neighborhood that sounds like this? Thank you!

You probably can't recreate your current neighborhood as part of what makes it special are the memories you have already created and friendships and support network you have made. Can you expand your current house?

My thoughts exactly. We purchased our house 10 years ago and our children are now so ingrained in the neighborhood, their school, and we love our neighbors. We can afford a home 3xs what ours is worth, but could never recreate the lovely community we have here. No yard, space, or 3 car garage can fill that.

At this point we have remodeled the house from top to bottom and have maximized the space. Also it's not like we are cramped, no reason a family of 4 cannot live in 2400sqft.

OP, I live in Vienna but I think Miller Heights in Oakton and Langley Oaks in McLean are both great suggestions for you.

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate the time and consideration so many of you gave. It's a tough decision to stay or go but I still want to see what else is out there- these are a lot of good ideas. You are all awesome. Thanks.
