Princess Stassi on her birthday? She is such a narcissist. She even manages to make her best friend's relationship problems to be about her!

Didn't think Stassi was so bad. She may be a narc but it appears she has a good heart.

Whatever- Stass.

That was a nomination for most vile, in case that wasn't clear.

I forgot about her. Definitely the most vile. Worse than Carlton on RHOBH.

The thing is, the ones that are really, really awful seem to have something clinically wrong with them, so it feels slimy to make fun of them. At least in writing.

I think Lisa from BH is slimy. Always tries to act like she's above everyone and never causes drama when she starts it plenty of times and is a big hypocrite.

Yes and yes.

I liked Danielle. She was at least moderately intelligent.

Taylor on RHOBH annoyed me.

She's crass and sometimes a sloppy mess, but I agree with every (sober) thing she says. I like her. I'd be friends with her.
On Beverly Hills I hate Yoyce and Kimberly. Yoyce is like an annoying gnat you just want to swat out of the way - she has absolutely nothing of interest or substance to say. Kimberly always seems like fragile glass. Stupid fragile glass. I hate her. Highly dislike the Caftan Queen too (her sister Kyle).

If there were a show of just Brandi, Lisa Pumpers, and Yolanda My Love, I would totally watch that.

She must not have seen the sex tape...

I only watch the Beverly Hills franchise...I am drawn to it because it is like my ultimate fantasy...To live in Beverly Hills and be a diva like them.

I like Brandi because she is ballsy. She doesn't hold back and will say whatever is on her mind. No one intimidates her and even if what she says will offend a whole race, such as black people can't swim, she will still say it.

Lisa V. is to haughty for me.
She lives in this huge, magnificent mansion and is just dripping in jewels...I mean money and I don't even think her shit stinks. I could never sit and have tea w/her because she probably wouldn't even socialize w/a mere mortal like me. *sigh*

The first season of any of the shows is the closest to any kind of reality- if you don't count the fact that the events are planned by the show, and the relationships between the women are also contrived, and don't forget the heavy editing, the cutesy music around comments, etc. After the first season, however, everything deconstructs because the housewives have seen themselves and they don't recognize themselves- they are looking at what basically have become their avatars. That's when they start to manipulate their own reality- they begin with changing their avatars- the plastic surgery, the face fillers, the hair, the makeup, the clothes. They actually look costumed.

Their avatars begin to manipulate each other's avatars, the conversation becomes contrived and competitive, and they are pressured by the producers to create drama in order to have face time on screen. They lose themselves as people entirely, and yet they have little control over their own lives.

What we end up watching are people slowly spiraling out of control because they cannot synthesize their actual selves to the perception of themselves. They are not trained actors- and even trained actors have trouble with this aspect of reality and fantasy- but let's understand this- at least the actors understand that they are working with a script- they may get lost in it, and they might even believe their own crap, but these women have no script, just a perception.

They also feel pressured to do something else in order to capitalize on their fleeting fame- a clothing line, Skinny Girl drinks, whatever business they are already in. They can no longer have personal relationships, and sooner than later, they might start figuring out that they have been exploited by the show for their weak points, because that increases ratings ( people love a table flip or an argument) so they are left in the cold with a large baggage of emotional loss and low self-esteem.

This isn't entertainment.

These are tragic shows.

This is largely spot on. I was cast on a reality series, which filmed but has yet to air due to getting stuck in network development hell. I'm still under contract with the production company, so I can't 'dilute the brand' by discussing specifics, but it is all staged, with multiple takes, suggested lines, etc. it is reality in the sense that I am a 'real person' not an actor playing a 'character.' But the situations are contrived. In our shows case, they featured our businesses too, and the customers and clients were recruited and prescreened by the producers. The whole industry is totally fake. The idea is to go into season 1 with a minimum contract and then renegotiate based on ratings. Not in my case, but in some cases the production company will take a % fee of your future earnings from other ventures after the show. Ie 'skinny girl' success is assured due to the production company having a stake.

You like Brandi because she offends a whole race? I bet you loved her when she said she was sad she wasn't molested as a child.

She is pure trash and I despise her.
