| Fructose in quantity without fiber isn't ideal. There's no nutritional need for juice. |
| Don't juice your baby!!! |
No, it's not. Juice has such little nutritional value as everyone here has explained. You are better off giving more vegetables. OP don't give your child juice. There no reason to. |
Our pediatrician said 1-2 ounces a day after 6 months, when the baby's eating solids, is fine. Juice only if constipated. |
Fruit juice is high in glucose? News to me. Fructose, yes. Glucose, no. |
|
Breast fed babies wouldn't be constipated . |
How nice. But not really relevant to babies who are not breastfed. |
+1. I'm a pediatrician and have been watching this thread with "interest" ( even replied once from A purely parental standpoint, for full disclosure). But THIS is absurd. If your pediatrician thinks 3 ounces of water can cause "water on the brain", you NEED a new pediatrician. |

OP there is no need for juice. I think you might have misunderstood what your ped was talking about. Babies who are on a liquid diet before solids can get water intoxication more easily so no need to give water. Once they eat solids they can have water.
And trust me EBF babies can get constipated after starting solids! Should have seen the turd my DS had today! Some smushed carrots fixed him right up though. |
| Oh and water intoxication and hydrocephalus are totally different things!! |
| The only reason we give or kid juice is for occasional constipation, in which case, we give diluted prune or pear juice. Babies don't need juice. Better to eat the whole fruit, pureed, smashed, or whatever. |
