Wtf is this supposed to suggest? Do you have brain damage or jus a low iq? |
As the PP pointed out, the Catholic Church is not the only group that thinks natural family planning is better for your body. I don't care if somebody wants to take birth control any more than I care if somebody eats 5 Big Macs in a sitting but it is not really that good for your body. |

If fetal life is so important to God and Jesus, why did they spend little to no time talking about it in the Bible?
God is all-knowing so it's not like He didn't know about the coming science of abortion, birth control, etc. Right? |
On what basis do you claim that the Catholic Church has concerns about birth control and women's health? I thought the argument was that we all have to be "open to life". God chooses if a sex act makes a child, not us. |
| You should thank Uncle Sugar for helping you deal with your libido. |
How about God chooses who gets cancer so we should just let it run it's course. Such medieval thinking. I knew of a woman in my hometown in the 1970s who died in childbirth, leaving 4 kids motherless; her doctor had told her she shouldn't get pregnant anymore because another pregnancy would kill her. Her priest told her she couldn't use artificial birth control, so she didn't. And of course she got pregnant. This is why people say the Catholic Church devalues women's health. If my doctor told me I shouldn't ever get pregnant again, I'd be scheduling my tubal ligation for the next day. |
Urban legend. The Catholic Church does not support this no birth control if the mother's life could be in danger, just like it is okay to take birth control if you have endometriosis or you can take it for acne. |
Natural Family Planning is okay and that means choosing to try not to conceive naturally. So some "birth control" is okay. Unnatural forms of birth control are not okay. Besides if God wants you to get pregnant he will on the pill or not... just ask 4 of my friends... woops! |
It's not an urban legend. This was someone in my hometown. The priest told her it was a sin to use artificial birth control. If a priest told her it was okay to use artifiical birth control (including condoms) or to get a tubal ligation he'd be going against Church doctrine. Ever heard of Humanae Vitae? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanae_Vitae That's the document issued in 1968 by Pope Paul VI that explicitly states that women should just use NFP if they want to space their children our or have some health concerns about getting pregnant. Yes, the Church opposes tubal ligation in a case where a woman has been told by her doctor never to get pregnant again or risk serious health consequences. However, a woman could get a hysterectomy as long as it's about curing a disease and not warding off pregnancy. How thoughtful. |
| Some Catholic hospitals are also promoting a "wait and see" attitude when confronted with patients who have life-threatening ectopic pregnancies. It is criminal. |

Humanaev vitae has errors. Popes in the past and present have been infallible and do make mistakes. No divinity is going to damn you for using birth control. Using your head is what you should do. Sometimes using the popes head does not work.
But I promise, if I had a house as big as what the pope has, I would multiply until thy kingdom come |
And why does God do so many abortions himself? That is, miscarriage |
I'm a member by default. I was born and raised into the faith. I attended Catholic Schools. Since 90% of my relatives are Roman Catholic, I would literally have to disowned them in order to break away from Catholicism. I love my family and I'm willing to place my personal beliefs aside in order to have them in my life. Every baptism, wedding, funeral, or family social event revolves around the church. My parish is my childhood church and it is where I got married. I'm not a ride or die Catholic. I take the good and throw out the bad. However, since I'm involved in social services and community outreach projects I associate with the Archdiocese of Washington on those matters. Don't get me wrong as much as I disagree with some of the teachings of Catholicism, there are things that I really do like about the Roman Catholic faith. Being of service to others, helping impoverished families, helping inner-city children obtain scholarships to attend Catholic Schools, the strong sense of community, and etc. are the reasons why I stick around. My relationship with the Roman Catholic Church is a love hate relationship. It's like having a dysfunctional, mentally challenged relative, but you still love them despite their shortcomings. I will admit that as I have matured over the years, the Episcopal and Unitarian Universalist Churches really appeal to me. |
The problem is that women around the world may not be as sophisticated as you are, and able to "use their heads" despite what the authority of the Church is telling them. If they can even FIND birth control in their country, which if it's officially Catholic, could be problematic. And that is why the Church's position on BC harms women and ought to make all Catholics feel ashamed of the Church. |
