Did each supplemental essay take a day? If so, that's a lot of work. My son applied to 10 schools and some schools had 3 supplemental essays. |
Not a full 24 hour day obviously, but realistically couldn't get through more than one app every day or two with sports and homework commitments on weekends/holidays. Supplemental essays ranged from 1-7 per app. Very little overlap in the questions so each one required real work. Even the ones about "why school x" were narrowly phrased so they really needed to be researched and customized for the school. DC got 3 done before Nov 1 deadlines, another 2-3 before xmas break, and the rest (another 5-6) during break. |
DC is more humid than 95% of Alabama (and probably 80% of the south, for that matter). |
|
One of my DC's schools (due January 1) did not send her a link to a portal or anything? DC submitted and paid for the main part of the Common app, but then submitted the Writing Supplement two days later (on January 1). The school received and accepted her payment. Why no link to an access portal?
Any thoughts? |
Ask on college confidential about that specific school. Those kids obsess over every detail. I don't think my DC got access portal emails from every school. Usually would get an email saying the application was complete but that seems like it took a week or so after submission. Might be longer for the ones submitted the last couple of days since the volume will be so high. |

I realize I'm a bit late but wanted OP to know that I feel her pain.
Boys are just a little different than girls and with all the other homework, ECs and jobs some students have, it's no wonder they're not motivated to do one more thing.
I briefly thought about the "Well, let him miss the deadline, that oughta learn 'im" but realized the stakes are just too high for that. The great news is that he did get into his first choice school and turned into Super Motivated College Kid after that. He's gone onto the FB page and started connecting with other new admits, checked out the activities he'll be able to get into next year and has been asking question after question about scheduling. I share this to say that a lack of motivation during the daunting, harrowing app process does not automatically equal an unmotivated college student who will need Mommy and Daddy in the dorms to hold his hand. |
Congrats & thanks for the update! |
Where is he going? |
Won't say, but it is a VERY good school.

Nope, Mobile and Montgomery are in the top 101 most humid areas of the U.S. D of C., VA and MD don't even make the list. http://www.city-data.com/top2/c485.html |
