What food should I drop off for friend who just had a baby?

I also had my dad bring me a dozen hard-boiled eggs. Protein that took no time to shell and eat.

Trader Joes sells hardboiled eggs in a bag - already shelled! Maximum convenience!!

They don't always have them, but when they're in stock, they're in the dairy section.

Chili with ground turkey. Lots of protein.

And smoothies made with Greek yogurt. Again, lots of protein!

I am 4 weeks pp. We have loved everything that has come, especially bags of salad, fresh yummy bakery bread, soups, muffins, etc. My mom made tons of cookies and banana bread, which was awesome. A friend included Haagen Daaz which we loved. I have been ravenous, way more so than in pregnancy so hearty meals, Thanksgiving leftovers and things that reheated very well have been great. We have tons of freezer meals from Lets Dish too but the last thing I want to do is tons of dishes.

My favorite thing I remember getting was a few small (disposable) containers of bean salad. I don't eat meat and was happy to have some healthy protein that I didn't have to prepare in any way--could eat right out of the container with one hand and lasts for a few days. Another thought I've had is that I would have loved one of those reusable insulated straw cups I see around during those early days of nursing when I was so thirsty but felt like I didn't have any hands.

Bagels, cream cheese and fruit. They will get a ton of dinner food.

It's a classic, but a casserole.

It can be thrown in the oven and eaten. It makes great leftovers.

I really appreciated fresh fruit and veggies already sliced/prepared. Other hits were bread and deli meats, bagels, bananas and milk. I wasn't in the mood for big meals or heavy comfort meals.

My favorite things made for me were homemade chicken salad with good bread for sandwiches and fruit salad.

I've been doing tacos a lot for baby meals. Just something different. Ground turkey, shells, all of the fixins and some rice. Works well esp for our friends with other kids to feed.

My go to : homemade chicken pot pie, bagged salad, brownies, cut up fresh fruit.

Healthy food was appreciated at our house, as well as convenient food. My favorites were baked chicken thighs with mashed potatoes and herbed broccoli, berry coffee cake that lasted for days (breakfast was hard for us!) and a baked veggie dish that I forget the name of, but was made with seasonal farmer's market veggies. I also really appreciated a healthy soup that was chock full of veggies, barley and chicken sausage. One handed eating isn't that big of a deal. It's nice, but I wouldn't focus on that

Stew. It has protein, veg & starch all in one. It freezes, it tastes better on Day 2 and Day 3.
