Wife won't let me buy the XboxOne

I handle finances for us. Sometimes despite our incomes we can't affirmed to buy everything my husband wants. We are saving for mutually important lt goals (college fund, retirement, building a house). We just bought a new car (his). Xmas is coming. We can't buy everything he (or I) wants the day he wants it. There is x money and y desires. My husband forgets and assumes we have tons if money bc we make a lot. He forgets about the exigences kart (mortgage, childcare, etc). So if he wants something like this to come from the household budget then yes, I control that decision because he admittedly cannot handhe mobley (major debt when we married which I paid off). If he wants it badly enough he needs to buy it from his spending money (not household funds).

^^I disagree with your disagreement, PP. I'm a DH trying to convince my DW not to buy the xbox one, crazy enough. in a world where we barely have enough to cover expenses and debt, want to travel and cant, and have held other long-term, better goals than a damn game system, what would I rather spend $500 on?

i'm the sole provider in our home and handle the finances. having DW want it so badly when we can't really afford to get it just builds resentment in me.

It's a finance issue.
We have yours, mine and our money.
My husband and I each get $200 a month to spend as we see fit. This covers anything you don't want to have a discussion over - but also covers lunch out money (food is group account, so you can pack your lunch). So, if I wanted an Xbox, I would have to save. If you buy it with "your" money the other spouse can't say anything.

I would be thrilled if my husband actually wanted something for himself! He never does, just tells me to buy something for myself or the kids. And he makes all the money! I have to tell HIM when he needs new shoes. I am 100% serious. He is a keeper.

1. If you need your wife's "permission" to buy something that's only $400 then either you're not making "a lot" of money or you need to change how financials are run in your family.

2. Console games are nice and all, but adults who may have more responsibilities should be over those games.

You sound like a nightmare. Stop playing mommy to your husband.

No she's pissed because she can't understand why I'd want to spend $600 on the bundle.

How do you two generally manage money? Does she tell you anytime she is making a purchase and discuss it first? Do you? Do you generally have an amount that anything above that needs to be discussed? Do you have very different money management strategies? Is this just about the Xbox or about something bigger in terms of spending / money? Is she a super saver?

We have one big pot and all the after tax money enters and then gets shuffled to various accounts. 10 years ago when we were starting out and I made no money it was easy to just let her handle it. Now that we've been blessed and I'm earning a salary that my parents probably didn't earn over their working lives I feel that we can spend on things like this. But she'll see the CC statement and freak.

You sound like a 14 year old boy troll.
