You are a liar. You probably asked innocently maybe in elementary school, maybe in high school, or college. "Can I touch your hair? Or oh wow I wish I had a bubble butt or why is your but so fat? Or your not like the other ones your lighter your nicer." I have heard so many variations of the same ol' shyte. I know you better than your dumb ass knows yourself.

You don't know me at all. It must really suck to have some much racism and hatred in your heart. What a fu king pitiful way to live life.

Well, it was weird that all the other dancers were black. If that hadn't been the case, it would still be in poor taste. But it wouldn't bring up as many issues of race.

Twerking may have originated in the black community, but come on, it's not like the blues or something where there is some artistic value. I would be fine with her twerking if all the other dancers were of different races.

No. So long as your hurting me I guess it doesn't matter.

If MC's performance at the VMAs "hurt" you, it might be time to consider therapy.

It's the systemic dismissal of me and how I feel when your men approach me or you feel like its ok to talk about my ass or my hair. Fuck you bitch.

Is it really white men or non-black men that are talking about your ass? Let's ask:

Sir Mix-a-Lot- Baby got Back

Wrexx n Effect- Rump Shaker

Tribe Called Quest- Bonita AppleBum

Soulja Boy- Donk

E U- Da Butt

LL Cool J- Big Ole Butt

2 Live Crew- Too Much Booty in the Pants

Ying Yang Twins- Whistle While you Twerk

Mos Def- Ms. Fat Booty

I'm sure there are more....

You all must have never stepped foot in a black strip club. Twerking has been around before Billy Ray was born, not to mention Miley.

There you go again with the "your men", as if anyone gets to lay claim to a certain race of males. Honey, anyone who wants can have 'em all. No of us are limited by racial lines. Perhaps, it is time to adjust your thinking to today's reality re cross racial and cultural relationships. The problem seems to be on your side.

Okay, so white men only rape black women or only white men rape black women? Not really understanding your line of reasoning here. Aren't there some terrible people/men in all races that commit horrific crimes against women of all races?

Look, I'm not black or white so don't really have a dog in this fight but you've missed the point of listing the above songs. Pop culture, much of it from rap songs written/sung by black men, has mainstreamed the objectification of a big butt, especially a black woman's behind. It's NOT okay and there should be major changes to this. Even Beyonce sings about being "Bootylicious". So placing the blame solely on white men for the objectification is a bit silly.

Wow. It must really suck to be you. I can't imagine how hard it must be to walk around with a stick up your butt while balancing a huge chip on your shoulder. The sheer weight of your hatred of others must be exhausting.

the point of the article was that the black female body is being used as currency to uphold the supposed primacy/desirability of white female sexuality. MC's appropriation of twerking in and of itself has a long history of white appropriation (and parody) of black cultural forms, but it was also the juxtaposition of black and white in this particular way--the thick black female body as foil to the thin white female body and that MC was both appropriating but also parodying, by exaggerating, traits associatted with blackness (steretoypes)--that is problematic, It is at once a sexualization of the black female body and stripping that body of real power or individual identity by turning it into a parody. I guess the only good thing is that people agree how horrible the entire experience was--but its important to recognize the long standing cultural fetishes and assumptions around blackness and sexuality. for the person who complained about race being a part of everything---well, yes, in America, in pop culture, race is central to so much.
