Can we sue if she does?

No, but we can call her a racist and spend days on the internet discussing it.

Yes it is honey. It's been around for a long time in the black community.

I like that this is a first person account of what it's like to be objectified, I've read several more theoretical pieces.

just semantics, us white people call it grinding and it's also be around a long time in the white community... unfortunately because it's all pretty raunchy.

Have you seen what twerking actually looks like? It's not grinding. That's ok though, didn't expect you to get it.

You proudly proclaim "rights" to twerkin and then complain about be objectified one sentence later. There is really something f'd up about that. Have your twerkin, "honey", cause not self-respecting female is going to "objectify" herself that way.

You totally misunderstood. Saying twerking originated in the black community has nothing to do with how one feels about objectifying women.

Everything has to be turned into race, doesn't it? How sad.

Yes but if we are talking about what she was doing with thicke, then twerking + direct contact with genitals(male or female) = grinding. I get it, still raunchy. The black community can keep twerking, we can keep grinding and we can all be equally gross.

Suppose it depends on your definition of sexy. I don't think twerking or grinding is sexy, I think it's done for attention and shock, sort of like 2 girls making out for the benefit of a group of drooling males in a club. We obviously disagree about what is sexy which is fine. But we probably both agree that sex can be an awesome thing.

I thought it was an interesting article. I hadn't thought about it like that (yeah, I'm a white girl). Yet another reason to find it offensive.

Maril you are right! It's roots are African. Black is in reference to African American, right?
