Gross. Pick a side. You are disgusting. You probably sleep with animals too. |
This observation is from being at one of "those" lacrosse schools. Some are smart but except for a couple, most would not have gotten into the high ranked schools they did w/o lacrosse. Very few take any AP Math or science classes. Very few do any community service. Only 2 or 3 do any other sport well except lacrosse. My opinion has nothing to do with one or two events but seeing what goes on with these kids at school. |
Can u name another? |
Any sport player + private or public school + dedication, motivation, drive, will to succeed = Success |
It is unfortunate that you have witnessed poor character and behavior, and a failure of coaches to take action. I, on the other hand, have seen very few instances of poor character or behavior. Perhaps you and other parents should approach the school administration to suggest changes. As for your generalization that lacrosse gets kids into the colleges you list (or any school for that matter), it seems you are not close to the process. Each prospective student/athlete, in any sport, must meet each school's Academic Index, which is a number based on board scores and grades, in order to be considered for acceptance. Congratulations to those student/athletes who both meet the AI and play a college sport. |
My perception is this-
they are typically good looking, confident young men, good athletes, ambitious and driven. Most are smart and know with a good academic record it could help them get into school I feel up until about 5 years ago yes it was mostly rich white kids, but the game has changed A LOT. It is now being played across all racial and cultural lines, no exceptions. Talent and a love for the game being the only common denominator. |
+1 |
Actually I am and know for a fact that there is no way that some of these kids who got into these schools. would have without lacrosse. I know all about the AI and your not talking about the braniacs in the class. |
BRAVO! |
In any college sport you will find athletes that would not be at that school without the sport.... |
Or another hook.... Who takes AP classes when they have already been accepted to a college sophomore year? |
Playing a sport at a D1 school is tough enough. Being a student athlete is not easy. Not a lot of money in lax but you still need to put the time in. It takes dedication and talent. Not to many kids can walk onto a lax field their freshmen year in HS and pick up a stick and start playing. That happens all the time in football.
Tons of money in college football..tons of athletes that are under achieves in academics... |
George Hugley (The guy convicted of murdering Yeardly Love) ruined to reputation of lacrosse players.
Not fair, but he put the icing on the cake made of negativity. |
Racist. |
