| OP - I just met someone in a similar situation. (We share the same acupuncturist in Alexandria). She was told her egg quality was poor and she need to use a DE. After 3 months of acupuncture she conceived naturally. Maybe worth a try? I've had no success yet (just trying naturally with accu and herbs) but have only been going for 3 months. |
OP, definitely get your records and send them to Dr. Davis at Cornell for a consult. You may not be able to go to NYC for IVF with Cornell, but a consult with Davis would be invaluable to you. You can do it over the phone, but if possible, I'd go up and talk to him in person. Good luck. Hang in there. This all sucks really really bad. |
| It really doesn't sound like you should have been kicked out. Very sorry that happened. Sorry if this is a dumb question but do they give you any money back? I thought they had to do the 6 cycles if you are in the refund program. |
| Sorry to hear so many have had problems with SG. It sounds like it depends on your Dr. Mine has been absolutely wonderful. Each failed cycle we review and change protocol. I am a more difficult case and have never been pushed for DE, in any direction or out for the sake of their numbers. Dr. Saffan has been wonderful. |
| Try Dr. Sharara...... I had the same issue after failed ivf cycles at sgf. He has a different outlook and may be worth a consult. |

Hi OP, I know you probably don't want to hear my story (or have probably moved on by now) but I'll throw it out there for what it is worth.
We were told to go straight to DE (I was 40, no previous kids) but I insisted on trying OE. Went through four IVF cycles resulting in ~10 eggs leading to 3 or 4 blasts and morulas that we transferred as we got them. Needless to say all failed. $100,000 down the drain, we moved on to spend the last $15,000 we could squeeze on DE (at RBA) and got pregnant on the first try. Looking back, and knowing what I know now, those cycles were obviously poor. I just did not know it. And I did not know how to put what the doctor was saying in perspective. Do I wish I had gone straight to DE and saved myself the equivalent of a college fund for my child? Yes. But at the same time, I do know this is probably something i needed to go through before being ok with DE. But all is okay now and my baby is 100% perfect. So what I am trying to say is - as rough as it sounds - you might need to make this choice based on budget. If I read correctly and you only have budget left for one cycle, pick the one that gives you the best chances of bringing home a baby - DE. I'm not saying you may never wonder "what if" but you will be very happy you made that choice once your baby is in your arms. . |
